Shondaland’s Inventing Anna Has Released First Look Photos

Netflix has finally released four photos from Shondaland’s highly anticipated series, Inventing Anna. This series stars Julia Garner (Ozark), Anna Chlumsky (VEEP), Jennifer Esposito (The Boys), Anna Deavere Smith (The Human Stain), Jeff Perry (Scandal), Anders Holm (Workaholics), and Laverne Cox (Orange Is The New Black).

According to Deadline, this is the story of an ambitious journalist (Chlumsky) who begins to investigate Anna Delvey. Maud, the only woman in her field of reporting, feels a bit pushed in the background, in the all-boys club work atmosphere.

However, she has found her story and she is intoxicated by the subject. Delvey is “Instagram-legendary.” Her biography is as enviable as the Photoshopped abs on the social media site.

She is a German heiress who has taken the haughty and discerning New York social scene by storm. Moreover, Anna has been stealing money right from them! There is a “love-hate bond” between the reporter and Anna. Is she the American Dream 2.0? Or is she a very trendy con artist?

This series is based on the New York Magazine article, “How Anna Delvey Tricked New York’s Party People,” written by Jessica Pressler. The series will take viewers from her humble beginnings to her rise, and then ultimate fall.

The First Look photos include an elegant-looking Anna wearing a red dress and scarf flowing freely from her neck. We also see her mug shot, and another speaking to Maud, in some sort of detention center. Anna has taken quite a fall, and Maud is there to get her whole story.

When Will Netflix Drop Shondaland’s Inventing Anna?

Although they began filming the Shondaland series in late 2019, everything shut down, including Inventing Anna. Netflix will release the 10-episode series sometime in 2022. Meanwhile, fans are awaiting that first teaser video for this series.

What is curious is Netflix’s Twitter caption for Inventing Anna. “This story is completely true…except for all of the parts that aren’t. Julia Garner is Anna Delvey in Inventing Anna, from Shondaland.”
