Survivor Two-Time Contestant Keith Nale Dead At 62 From Cancer

Keith Nale, a two-time contestant on the Survivor reality TV show sadly passed away on Tuesday in his home in Keithville, Louisiana. According to his wife, Dana, Nale had been diagnosed with cancer in January 2022. However, she told TMZ that at this time it was unclear what type of cancer the Survivor contestant was suffering from.

Speaking to ET, Keith Nale’s son, Wes, said, “He passed away this afternoon. He’d been battling cancer for the past few months and we found out about it in January.”  Meanwhile, Nale’s brother, Kevin, said his life was taken way too soon, saying:

It happened so quickly. Cancer ate him up. He passed this afternoon at his home in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Keith was a contestant in two seasons of the show, Survivor: San Juan del Sur and Survivor: Cambodia. Meanwhile, his son Wes, accompanied him in San Juan del Sur.

Survival underdog makes good

While a contestant on Survivor, Nale was considered an underdog from the start. However, despite this, he managed to make it all the way to the final four. Reportedly, his success was due to his skill in Immunity Challenges and a well-played Hidden Immunity Idol. Meanwhile, Natalie Anderson won that season.

When Keith returned for Survivor: Cambodia, he played a similar game, while trying to be more collaborative. This led to him playing a strategic game and he eventually switched allegiances. Meanwhile, in Cambodia, he was eliminated two days prior to the Final Tribal Council. This came after Kelley Wentworth, the majority’s principal target, won immunity. Moreover, contestant Jeremy Collins won that season.

Co-stars pay tribute to Keith Nale

Wentworth shared a tribute to Nale on Twitter, writing, “Keith – a man with the purest heart, who brought humor into moments where it was needed most,” adding:

I’m grateful I had the opportunity to meet Keith & share memories together on the beaches of Nicaragua & Cambodia. My heart is with the entire Nale family. This is a devastating loss.

Jeremy Collins, who won Survivor: Cambodia in 2015, tweeted his condolences to Keith’s family. He also noted that he and Nale were both firefighters by trade.
