The View host Joy Behar recently claimed that she rejected a role on Ted Lasso. But now the team who created Ted Lasso, including Jason Sudeikis, has reacted.
And the Ted Lasso co-creators and cast got shady in hinting that Joy lied. Get all the details below.
‘Ted Lasso’ Stars Shade Joy Behar
The View host Joy Behar recently boasted about receiving an offer to star on Ted Lasso. However, she claimed that she refused the role.
But now Jason Sudeikis and Brendan Hunt have reacted to Joy saying that she turned down an offer for a role on Ted Lasso with a very shady response via via People.
The stars of the Apple TV+ series take pride in its 21 Emmy Award nominations. And they reunited with seven fellow cast members for a panel discussion. However, the Ted Lasso panel moderator asked about Joy Behar, 81, claiming she received an offer to play Sudeikis’ mom in season 3 of the show.
And both Jason and Brendan got shady. “I, no. Joy Behar from The View?” questioned a baffled, Sudeikis, 48. And Hunt, 41, commented, “Respectfully, it would be news to us. We just work there.”
Joy Behar Boasted About Ted Lasso Role
However, Behar bragged that she received the chance to star on Ted Lasso. And she claimed that she rejected the role amid boasting about her writing skills.
But Joy made a bizarre excuse for turning down the opportunity to star on Ted Lasso. And she claimed that the weather seemed “too hot. There was a heat wave going on at that time, like, 100-degree weather,” she added.
But Behar also didn’t want to travel. “And I’d have to get on a plane and go in the middle of the heat? No. Listen, I’m a writer, I write my own stuff. I don’t care about other people’s stuff. I don’t need to be in everything,” she added.
Jason Sudeikis Performs Act Of Kindness
However, Sudeikis then performed an act of kindness. And he shared that regardless of Joy’s comments, he would welcome her presence at the Ted Lasso table. “She’s welcome to sit at the table,” he said.
But other cast members, including Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, Phil Dunster, Cristo Fernandez, Kola Bokinni, James Lance, and Billy Harris, discussed the show’s success and what it has meant to its fans. For instance, Waddingham noted that “the whole COVID [conversation] was a bit interesting.”
And she pointed out, “People say [Ted Lasso] came along just at the right time.” But she feels that such statements “do the show a disservice. Because, I think, regardless of the horrific pandemic, it would’ve done the same thing. I think people were ready for kindness and humor through kindness and joy and the warm hug that it is in general. The beautiful writing and the way every character is fleshed out so beautifully.”
And the actress believes that Ted Lasso encourages viewers to become introspective. “You see their yin-yang within themselves and what we find in ourselves by watching it,” Waddingham clarified. “So I actually think that it would’ve had this success regardless, because of the joy it brings.”
