True Crime Drama ‘Waco: The Aftermath’ Premiere Date

After an exciting Yellowjackets Season 2 premiere, Showtime is now all set to entertain fans with a new crime drama, Waco: The Aftermath. The upcoming miniseries will have a total of five episodes and was initially announced in February 2021 to be aired on Paramount+. It was a follow-up to the 2018 miniseries Waco.

The series was initially titled American Tragedies: Waco-The Trials. However, later in February 2023, it was re-titled as Waco: The Aftermath, which will now premiere on Showtime instead of Paramount+. So, when will the upcoming series premiere on the network? Keep reading to find out the details!

Waco: The Aftermath started filming sometime in March 2022 and wrapped up by June 2022. The filming location for the show was Albuquerque, New Mexico. The six-episode miniseries, Waco (2018), followed a standoff between the ATF, the Branch Of Davidians, and the FBI in Waco, Texas, for 51 days. The series showcased the tragedy that happened before as well as during the standoff from the POV of people closely associated with both sides of the conflict.

However, it didn’t showcase what followed after the tragedy happened, and the new series details the same. Waco: The Aftermath will examine all of the injustices and tragedies that happened to the surviving Branch Davidians. It also talks about the heart-wrenching incidents that led to the Patriot movement and caused the terrorist attacks in Oklahoma City.

As per reports, the series will start airing on Showtime on April 16, 2023, at 10 p.m. ET/PT. Although it was earlier headed for Paramount+, the new announcement that confirmed the two network’s merger has allowed the show to shift to Showtime. However, if you do have a subscription to Showtime’s streaming app, the sequel miniseries will be available for streaming on April 14, 2023.

In case you haven’t caught up on what happened in the previous series, the original Waco is now available to stream on both Paramount+ and Showtime.

The series cast includes Michael Shannon, who plays the character Gary Noesner, a hostage negotiator for the FBI, and John Leguizamo, cast as Jacob Vasquez, an ATF agent working undercover. Also in the show are David Costabile, Giovanni Ribisi, John Hoogenakker, J. Smith-Cameron, Keean Johnson, and many more.
