Will ‘Blue Bloods’ Continue Past Season 14?

CBS’ American drama series, Blue Bloods, premiered on September 2010 and has established a strong fan base over the years. The network renewed the show for Season 14 on March 29, 2023, which is slated for a Fall 2023 premiere. Blue Bloods drama stars Donnie Wahlberg, Will Estes, Tom Selleck, Len Cariou, Bridget Moynahan, Vanessa Ray, and Marisa Ramirez. Among recurring players are Gregory Jbara, Steven Schirripa, Abigail Hawk, Robert Clohessy, Roslyn Ruff, Stacy Keach, and others.

The show tells the tale of Reagans, an NYC-based multi-generational family of cops that are dedicated to law enforcement in the city. Patriarch Frank Reagan, played by Tom Selleck, is a NY Police Commissioner who has the capability to run his family and department diplomatically.

Donnie Wahlberg, who plays the character Danny Reagan on the show, is optimistic about the show’s continuation after Season 14. This comes after the Season 14 renewal news that also revealed that the show’s producers and cast members took a 25% pay cut. While the pay cut has caused some fans to believe that the show is nearing its end, Wahlberg doesn’t seem to think so. In a conversation with US Weekly, he revealed that he is optimistic about the show and tries to take each episode as it comes. He also added that it is part of why he has enjoyed his stint on the show for the past 13 years.

The actor also added that he believes the show has enough meat to keep it going for a few more seasons. He compared Blue Bloods with Law And Order: SVU stating how Mariska Hargitay and Ice-T have been on for 24 seasons, and he wishes the same for Blue Bloods as well.

Blue Bloods Season 13 still has some episodes left to air before it goes on a hiatus. The Season 13 finale episode will premiere on May 12, 2023, and is already a matter of discussion among fans. This comes after the show revealed that two past cast members would be returning. The first returning character is Jackie Curatola (Jennifer Esposito) and Nicki Reagan-Boyle (Sami Gayle). After Seasons 3 and 11, they will be returning to the show for the Season 13 finale.
