However, his attempt at wealth and power doesn’t always come from legal means. His aggressive tactics that help him bag high returns tends to be illegal, something which Chuck Rhoades, a US attorney, wishes to prosecute. Certain aspects of the plotlines mirror several real-life financial crime prosecutions by top-ranking federal authorities. A big part of the series is inspired by several investigations by Preet Bharara, an attorney for New York Southern District in Manhattan between 2009 and 2017. The character Rhoades is based on Preet.

While the main character, Lewis, left the show after Season 5, he will be returning for the first half of Season 7. Although fans won’t have more of Billions after Season 7, the saga isn’t really ending anytime soon. As per reports, Showtime is currently working on not one or two but four spin-offs for the show.

The Showtime drama is hailed for its great storytelling and acting by the core cast members. However, the show also garnered attention for its BDSM depiction. It featured several depictions of the NSFW activity between the show’s core characters. Moreover, in Season 4, the show revealed that Chuck Rhoades practiced BDSM. To ensure that the BDSM activities in the story are depicted safely and accurately, the producers hired Olivia Troy, a BDSM expert.

Currently, there is no update on when Season 7 will drop on Showtime.
