DOOL spoilers reveal that in an interview with TV Insider, Sweeney confirmed she is coming back to the soap. As fans know, Sweeney has played the role of Sami for decades. Sami has always been known for her scheming, but also had the ability to capture viewers’ hearts.

Sweeney said that she was thrilled when asked to come back for another stint. The actress mentioned that she absolutely loves playing Sami.

However, Alison also admitted that sometimes it can be tricky with scheduling. This time, she is glad that everything worked out.

Unexpected Storyline

Days of Our Lives spoilers reveal that fans might expect Sami’s return to be all about EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel).

However, Sami actually gets an unexpected storyline this time, per Sweeney’s interview. In fact, Alison said she was “pretty shocked” by the storyline pitch.

“[It] was definitely an unexpected storyline they pitched me… all the ideas, I was pretty shocked.”

Even though most soaps have a pretty quick turnaround time, DOOL is done differently. So, even though Alison is announcing her comeback now, she won’t be seen on TV screens until 2025. It should be interesting to see what this “shocking” storyline is all about.

Sweeney began playing Sami in 1993 and continued playing the part until 2014. That’s over two decades! Sami has had some of the most bombshell storylines and memorial scenes.

Although Sami is a bit of a villain, it’s usually out of desperation or good intentions. I guess that’s why she’s so forgiveable and endearing!

Alison has returned to play Sami in short stints in the past. Those years have been 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020-2021, and 2022. Last time Alison exited, she said she was open for future visits.

In addition to being a soap icon, Sweeney is also a Hallmark sweetheart. Alison not only stars in the productions, but writes and produces as well. Alison’s latest project is “One Bad Apple: A Hannah Swensen Mystery.”
