When Xander (Paul Telfer) first arrived in Salem on Days of Our Lives, he was obsessed with that elephant statue Serena (Melissa Archer) had, which she was hiding diamonds in. He was also obsessed with Nicole (Arianne Zucker) and Nicole faked having an interest in him to find out what he was really up to, despite the fact that she was dating Daniel (Shawn Christian) at the time.

When Xander learned Nicole was leading him on, he locked Nicole and Eric (Greg Vaughan) in that heating duct where they nearly did the deed and that’s when Eric decided he was in love with Nicole again.

He spent years pining after her, became an alcoholic, killed Daniel in a drunk driving accident, spent time in jail, and even believed Nicole was dead at one time. Then, as soon as they wed, he felt he had to leave her.

Well, Eric may be in love with Nicole and married to Nicole, but he’d apparently rather stay in Africa, where he first met Xander and Serena. He lets Nicole know he’s not coming home any time soon on Days of Our Lives and she’s devastated.

First, she was developing feelings for Rafe (Galen Gering), and then, she learned he fell for her best friend, Ava (Tamara Braun). It looks like Xander is the only one to comfort her and Nicole is there to nurse his still-broken heart over losing Sarah (Linsey Godfrey).

One thing leads to another and Days of Our Lives spoilers tease the pair fall into bed. Yes, they were married for a time when they lived in Chicago, but we got the impression no marital relations were taking place.

Will this turn into a full-blown affair and what will happen when Sarah and Eric return — and we know they will? Sarah and Eric also had a relationship at one time and he was the father of the baby she lost, the real Baby Mickey Horton. Will they turn to one another or just try to get revenge?
