Nicole Kidman stunningly transformed into the legendary Lucille Ball in the upcoming film “Being the Ricardos.”
Nicole Kidman Nails Lucille Ball In Upcoming Biopic
From sipping wine, acting “acting” to portraying the intricate private life of Lucille Ball, Nicole Kidman has proven that she is definitely up to the challenge.
The forthcoming biopic will explore Lucille Ball’s private life, which is certainly a bit complicated as she and her co-star, Desi Arnaz were famously couple onscreen and off.
The pair eloped in November 1940, appeared in “I Love Lucy” together from 1951 to 1957, and subsequently divorced in 1960.
“I am the biggest asset in the portfolio of the Columbia Broadcasting System,” Lucille (Nicole) says in a voiceover in the slow-winding teaser. “The biggest asset in the portfolio of Philip Morris Tobacco, Westinghouse. I get paid a fortune to do exactly what I love doing. I work side-by-side with my husband who is genuinely impressed by me. And all I have to do to keep it, is kill for 36 weeks in a row. And then do it again next year.”
Nicole Kidman – You Always Hope For Success
Talking about their incredibly successful sitcom, Lucille confessed she had no idea how big of a success the drama series will be when she and Desi Arnaz signed on to star in it.
“You know, I did this show so Desi and I could be together. I had no idea it was going to be a hit,” she says, with the camera rounding in on her face that very moment. When Nicole’s face comes into focus, it raises questions, isn’t that really Lucille Ball?
The film will pull back the curtain on Lucille and Desi’s whirlwind week of filming “I Love Lucy”, with the plot following a Monday table read to the wrap up; a Friday TV shoot in front of a live audience.
The Whole Picture
A glimpse into the famous couple’s private lives off-screen will also be shown, with the synopsis being: “The film takes audiences into the writers’ room, onto the soundstage and behind closed doors with Ball and Arnaz during one critical production week of their groundbreaking sitcom.”

Lucille and Desi’s Daughter Praise Kidman’s Performance in the Biopic: “A Spectacular Job”
Lucille and Desi’s daughter Lucie Arnaz praised Oscar-winning actress Kidman for her unbelievable performance, saying that she managed to capture the “basic essence” of her superstar mother.
“Nicole did a spectacular job,” Lucie told The Palm Springs Life magazine in August. “The two days that I watched, though, were both little flashbacks, so she was playing Lucy in the late ’30s and mid-’40s. She wasn’t Lucy of Lucy Ricardo fame yet, so it was a trifle different. And I know she meant it to be, so it could feel different. But boy, what she did was astounding. She’s got such poise and class.”
“Being the Ricardos” will premiere in theaters Dec. 10 and hit Prime Video Dec. 21.
