British royal family news reveals that the royal family will pay homage to its late patriarch Prince Philip the Duke of Edinburgh in a tv special. The program was initially planned to be a part of the Duke’s 100th birthday celebrations meant to take place this year.
It was announced on Wednesday that the television special will air on BBC One later in the month. Prince Philip died on April 9 at Windsor Castle. He was 99-years old and passed surrounded by his loved ones. He was married to Queen Elizabeth for 73 years and enjoyed a successful career in the Royal Navy prior to becoming a full-time working royal.
Royal Family News – Prince Philip Will Be Honored
The tribute show is set to debut on September 22 and is titled Prince Philip: The Royal Family Remembers. All of Philip and the queen’s children will appear: Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward.
There will also be interviews with Philip’s grown grandchildren, including Prince William, Prince Harry and Zara Tindall.

The show represents an unprecedented move for a family that values its privacy. The special is certain to be must-see tv for royal fans and it is said to not only include reminiscences by senior members of the royal family, but also with Philip’s dedicated staff. In addition the show will reveal glimpses into the Duke’s private office, library and study.
The episode was changed following his death in April from a celebratory feature to a remembrance of his life and times.

Last week Prince Philip was accorded an honor in tribute to his Royal Navy career. It was announced that The Royal National Lifeboat Institution will be naming a new lifeboat in Philip’s honor. The vessel is to be named the ‘Duke of Edinburgh’ boat and it will go into service at Wells-next-the-Sea in Norfolk. It’s launch date is set for next year.

Royal Family News – The Queen And Prince Philip Were Married For 73 Years
The RNLI stated that the vessel’s name pays tribute to Philip’s dedication to maritime services and his lifetime support of the Queen. The boat named for Philip will be in service a short distance away from the Queen’s private estate, Sandringham. Philip spent much of time at the estate after he retired from public life.
