The facts surrounding Thomas Markle, Meghan Markle, and the royal family were revisited amid speculation about whether Prince Harry’s wife remained silent about allegations concerning her dad to protect the royal family, or for reasons of her own.

The Podcast Discussion

Meghan had previously said she received a letter containing disturbing allegations about her father and was assured the matter was being investigated. Per Sky News, she also said her decision to keep Thomas Markle away from her children was to protect them.

On November 2, Mark Dolan and JJ Anisiobi discussed the latest claims on the Daily Express’s Daily Expresso show.

JJ Anisiobi said he’d taken some flak earlier for suggesting that if the Met Police told Harry and Meghan about the allegations, then surely the royal family would have known as well.

Next, Mark Dolan talked about what people do know. That included the 2019 letter containing serious allegations against Thomas Markle Sr. Then he raised the recent allegations brought to the attention of police in the Philippines by Thomas Markle Jr.

And finally, he mentioned the  Daily Mail’s reporting about suspected CSAM material allegedly linked to Meghan’s dad in Rosarito, Mexico.

Dolan did remind his viewers though, that Thomas Markle Sr. remains innocent until proven guilty.

Why Did Meghan Remain Silent?

In Dolan’s opinion, Meghan Markle didn’t remain quiet to protect the royal family. Instead, he suggested that her silence was intended to protect her own public image.

JJ Anisiobi discussed claims that Meghan had been advised not to comment while the matter was being looked into.

According to the account discussed on the podcast, a royal protection officer allegedly told her, “Leave it with us. We’ll investigate it.”

Mark responded by suggesting it seemed unlikely that Meghan Markle would be taking lectures “from a hired gun.” He did give them credit for being professional in their jobs, but he also opined that Meghan has a reputation for allegedly being a “bully with her staff.”

So, Dolan wondered, “Are you telling me that she’ll be told what to do by a bodyguard? Somebody that’s an employee of the Met Police. This is not going to be like the Home Secretary or the prime minister or somebody that has a truly massive role within the country. So, I don’t buy that she would keep silent just because of the comments of a bodyguard.”

Questions About The Timeline

Interestingly, the two also brought up Meghan’s Netflix documentary, where she described herself as having been “a daddy’s girl.” They mentioned Prince Harry’s memoir, Spare, as well, and what he’d said about Thomas Markle.

But there’s another thing that bothered the commentators. Meghan and her father had already fallen out before she married Harry, so they questioned her explanation about keeping him away from her children.

Of course, falling out with her father before the wedding doesn’t necessarily mean Meghan couldn’t have had other reasons for keeping her children away from him later on.

In the comments section of the podcast, one follower wrote, “If he’s guilty or not guilty, she’s using this horrific situation to her own benefit!”

Here are a few more responses from the discussion:

  • “Even if the Rf said to not say anything, she’s been out of their ‘control’ since 2020 so not buying that.”
  • “Of course she says she was silenced…like she always does.”
  • “Since when do bodyguards offer legal advice or advise royal family members on PR?”
