Queen Elizabeth sparked concern two weeks ago when she experienced a health scare that landed her in the hospital. And in the wake of her release, the Queen noticeably has cut back on her royal duties.
But even though the royal family reportedly wishes she’d continue to take it easy, Queen Elizabeth seems determined to return to her regular routine. As a result, she just completed her very first royal trip since spending time in the hospital. Find out where she traveled below.
Queen Elizabeth ‘Delighted’ With First Trip Since Hospital
Since her hospital stay, Queen Elizabeth’s physicians have stayed in contact with Her Majesty. That means that when she wanted to make her first journey since her health care, she required their clearance, according to the Express.
And as soon as the royal family physicians approved the trip, Her Majesty boarded a helicopter to travel to Sandringham. As for why Queen Elizabeth chose that residence in Norfolk for her first trip since spending a night at King Edward VII Hospital? It’s her favorite, according to royal family insiders.
Her Majesty felt “delighted” with receiving permission to make the journey, noted those sources. And one insider revealed why the timing is so perfect. “The Queen had been hoping she would still be able to spend the weekend at Sandringham and was delighted her doctors gave her the all-clear to travel. Her Majesty is very much looking forward to hosting her family at her Norfolk home for the Christmas holiday and there is much preparation to be done in time to accommodate everyone who has been invited.”
Queen Elizabeth Determined To Make Xmas Special
But while Her Majesty enjoyed her journey, her royal relatives reportedly wish she would spend more time taking it easy. However, Queen Elizabeth seems determined to return to her usual busy schedule. And that means managing Christmas prep herself, according to one insider.
“The Queen has many happy memories of being at Sandringham with the family over Christmas and was in the firm belief that she was far better off being there in person to oversee everything as much as possible,” explained the source.
As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, Her Majesty could not celebrate Christmas in the traditional way. And that means she feels “totally committed” to restoring the royal family’s holiday traditions, added the insider.

However, Queen Elizabeth’s doctors continue to oversee her health. “She traveled on the understanding with her doctors that she continues to rest as advised,” noted the source, who also emphasized why her voyage seems so meaningful.
“This year, more than ever, it is incredibly important to Her Majesty to be surrounded by her loved ones,” said the insider about Queen Elizabeth’s Christmas preparations. “After being forced to cancel a host of engagements, the family get-together will be the perfect tonic.” And having her family close will also help Her Majesty through the heartbreak of celebrating her first Christmas without Prince Philip.

Our Queen is just like her Mum. I think she knows how much she can do
If the Queen were not capable, her doctors would not approve the travel.
