Royal Family News: Why Princess Eugenie Could Have A Somber Christmas This Year

British royal family news reveals that Princess Eugenie encountered a few firsts in 2021, including becoming a new mom. That is a terrific reason to celebrate and yet she has also endured loss this year. For those reasons her celebrations this holiday season may be a bit muted.

Royal Family News – Princess Eugenie Is A New Mom

Eugenie is the daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson. She is the granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth and the late Prince Philip. Philip passed away this year at the age of 99. Eugenie was close to her grandfather and was said to be devastated at the passing of her beloved grandfather. The Duke of Edinburgh died in April.

Her love for Prince Philip was evident in her Instagram tribute to him: “Dearest Grandpa, we all miss you. You would be so touched by all the tributes that have been shared with me the past few days. People remember sitting next to you at a dinner, or shaking your hand once, who remember you saying hello in passing, or remember how much their DofE award meant to them.”

Royal Family News – Eugenie Remembers Philip

Eugenie’s touching tribute went on: “I remember incinerating the sausages and you swooping in to save the day. I remember your hands and your laugh and your favourite beer. I will remember you in your children, your grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Thank you for your dedication and love for us all and especially Granny, who we will look after for you. With all my love Eugenie.”

Royal Family News – Princess Eugenie Is Missing Her Grandfather

Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank welcomed their first child into the world in February. Just days before her son was baptized, Jack’s father, George Brooksbank, passed away. Both Eugenie and Jack are no doubt missing their loved ones as Christmastime nears.

The thoughtful couple named their son August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, with the name Philip being in honor of Prince Philip.

Eugenie seems to be reveling in being a first time mom and she appears to be a natural. She has posted photos of her motherhood journey and both mom and baby look happy and content. In addition she is sharing her motherhood journey with her cousin Zara Tindall who had a son this year. The new moms had a joint baptism in November in which August was christened with Zara’s son, Lucas. The occasion was a historic event as double royal baptisms are rare.
