Kelly Osbourne made an appearance on Red Table Talk on Wednesday, September 28, as a guest host alongside hosts Jada Pinkett Smith, and Adrienne Banfield Norris, during the show, Kelly who we got to see her baby bump for the first time, got all teary while she praised the show and appreciated the impact her last year’s appearance on the show made in her life. Kelly told Jada and Norris that after her June 2021 appearance on the show, it encouraged her to seek therapy again and since then she hasn’t regretted it as she had been sober and doing well to date.
“I just want to tell you both, coming on this show the last time helped me in my life so much — it’s going to make me cry — because I got honest because I felt safe, and from there, I decided to go back to treatment, and it changed my life in every way. And now all my dreams have come true. So, thank you. I really mean that.” The 37-year-old singer continued amid tears, “I don’t know what it is about you ladies but you allow a safe space for someone to come in and just lay it all out, and I did that and it was like therapy. It changed everything. Because I was like, ‘I wanna be the person I was on Red Table every day, and I did it.”
Kelly Osbourne — How Kelly Began Alcohol Abuse
It was during Kelly’s visit to Jada Pinkett Smith’s family show Red Table Talk in June 2021, that Kelly revealed that she learned how to abuse alcohol from her father Ozzy Osbourne. Kelly explained that her dad had been a heavy drinker and had frequented rehabs in the past.
In Kelly’s words, she “was introduced to alcohol” because she “came from an alcoholic family.” Ozzy on the other hand has been open about his own past substance abuse and has also sought treatment in rehab several times. She went ahead to explain how moving to America and being a foreigner there didn’t help matters as she was pure English, and communication was a problem because most of her peers could barely understand her.
“I grew up with my father being extremely, if not probably the heaviest drinker I’ve ever seen in my life, the alcohol was there. I moved to America, and I was 13. I was so foreign. I couldn’t be more foreign. Very English. Most of the time people didn’t understand what I was saying. I didn’t really fit in anywhere, so I got really, really insecure.”
