Why Prince William Does Not Want Queen Camilla To Diminish Princess Diana’s Role In His Children’s Lives

A new royal biography has put forth the claim that Prince William “made it clear” to Camilla that she does not represent a grandma figure to his three children.

According to the book, William is of the belief that his children have one grandma and two grandpas.

With the glitz and glam of royal life, it’s easier for royal fans to forget that the 75-year-old Queen Consort actually has a life outside of the royal family.

She’s got children of her own and she still retains her humble home, which, according to some royal sources, serves as an escape whenever royal life begins getting too intense for her to handle.

While she’s been in the family as a stepmother to William and Harry for nearly two decades – William was 23 and Harry was 20 when she and King Charles got married – it seems as though her presence in the family is still viewed as one views an outsider.

Her life of service was generally trumped by Princess Diana’s, and even though she’s now Queen, a royal biographer said that William wants her role in his children’s lives to be different from what a grandmother’s role would be.

“William has made it clear that Camilla is the wife of his father, but not a step-grandmother to his children,” Angela Levin wrote in “Camilla: From Outcast to Queen Consort”.

“William and Harry were 23 and 20 respectively when Camilla officially became their stepmother in 2005,” Levin wrote of the time Camilla was officially welcomed into the family. “She was more of a friendly grown-up they saw occasionally at royal gatherings. She tried to be encouraging rather than influential.”

Queen Camilla Does Not Want To Take the Role Of A Step-Grandmother

Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis often spend quality time with their grandmother, Carole Middleton.

However, Camilla is not bummed out by it, being a grandmother to five children herself.

“Nor has she tried to take over any responsibility as a step-grandmother to the Cambridges’ children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, especially as Catherine’s parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, are so close,” Levin wrote.
