The casting decision also removed a well-liked actor, Gina Tognoni (Phyllis), from the show. That may impact the viewer’s thoughts as the next potential version of ‘Phick’ prepares for a potential reboot.

As hardcore viewers recall, Cassie Newman (Camryn Grimes) died as the result of injuries she suffered while feeling compelled to drive Phyllis’ son, Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei), home. Nick’s history with Phyllis began shortly thereafter in scandalous fashion. Unable to deal with the grief of his adopted daughter’s loss, he began a relationship with Phyllis, much to Sharon Newman’s (Sharon Case) enduring outrage.

Phyllis later had Nick’s child, Summer Newman (Hunter King). ‘Phick’ was together and apart on various occasions, similar to ‘Shick’, but few would claim that Phyllis was Nick’s greater love.

Nick is experiencing relationship issues with Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) that are related to her growing ties to Adam Newman (Mark Grossman). Connor Newman’s (Judah Mackey) troubles aren’t likely to fade away, which means that Chelsea is likely to live at the penthouse with the brother Nick protests.

Unsure of the future and with Chelsea’s 2018 bolt from town in mind, Nick is vulnerable. So, why would that make Phyllis the potentially sympathetic figure?
