Selena Gomez Deactivates TikTok Following Hailey Bieber Drama

Another deactivation period for the star of “Monte Carlo” Selena Gomez. This one comes a day after Selena surpassed Kylie Jenner as the most followed woman on Instagram.

The “Wizard of Waverley Palace” actress currently has a total of 382 million Instagram followers, surpassing that of Kylie who has 380 million followers with extra 2 followers.

However, a day after attaining such milestone, Selena announced on TikTok live that she will be deactivating her TikTok account and will be staying away from it for a while.

On Thursday, Feb. 23, the 30-year-old actress went live on TikTok to tell her followers that she’ll be stepping away from the platform for a short while.

She began her announcement with, “I’m very happy, I’m so blessed, I have the best friends, the best fans in the whole world, and I just couldn’t be happier. And I’m good. I love the way I am. I don’t care, I’m big, I’m not—I don’t care.”

Continuing, she said, “I love who I am. And yeah, I’m gonna be taking a second from social media, because this is a little silly. And I’m 30, I’m too old for this, so. But I love you guys so much! And I will see you guys sooner than later, I just… I’m just gonna just take a break from everything.”

Selena Gomez — Does Selena’s Deactivation Have To Do With Her Recent Hailey & Kylie Drama?

Ever since Selena and the “Baby” singer Justin Bieber called off their relationship, fans have been doing all they can to stir up drama between Selena and Justin’s wife Hailey.

Although the actress and the supermodel have denied any ongoing feud, this hasn’t stopped fans from trying to stir up drama. Recently, TikTok commenters formulated a rumor claiming that Hailey and Kylie were beefing Selena.

Another commenter claimed that Kylie beefed Selena’s eyebrows. Kylie debunked the news on February 22, saying, “u guys are making something out of nothing. this is silly.” Selena, on the other hand, supported Kylie saying “Agreed @kyliejenner It’s all unnecessary. I’m a fan of Kylie!”

This isn’t the first time Selena is taking a break off social media. The first break she took from Instagram lasted four years before she returned.

Speaking with “Vanity Fair” on February 15, the actress shared that after her breakup with the “Peaches” singer, she contemplated giving her social media passwords and her assistant.

“I went through a hard time in a breakup, and I didn’t want to see any of the [feedback]—not necessarily about the relationship, but the opinions of me versus [someone] else,” said the “Wizard Of Waverley Palace” actress.

She continued, “There’d be thousands of really nice comments, but my mind goes straight to the mean one. People can call me ugly or stupid and I’m like, Whatever. But these people get detailed. They write paragraphs that are so specific and mean. I would constantly be crying. I constantly had anxiety…I couldn’t do it anymore. It was a waste of my time.”
