Russell Brand was found guilty of one count of rape and three counts of sexual assault after a month-long trial at the Southwark Crown Court in London.

The jury delivered the verdict on November 5, 2026, after roughly eight-and-a-half hours of deliberation on charges made by six women covering a ten-year period from 1999 to 2009.

The Charges And Convictions

According to Courthouse News, the convictions arise after multiple alleged attacks. The court found Brand guilty of a serious sexual offence involving a fan at his London home in 2009 and sexually assaulting three other women in 2004 and 2009.

The assaults included grabbing a woman at a bar and subjecting a Channel 4 staff member to forced intimate contact during a massage.

However, jurors acquitted him of an attempted indecent assault charge and two additional charges of rape.

He Pleaded Not Guilty

There are reportedly more investigations to come, and while it’s not clear which cases they are, we reported back in 2023 that more claims arrived after initial news about the investigation hit the headlines.

NBC News reported that Russell Brand “pleaded not guilty to all counts and consistently denied all of the allegations.”

The sentencing takes place on Monday next week, but it’s likely the now-infamous comedian, actor, author, and former TV/radio presenter could receive a harsh sentence.

Justice Joel Bennathan let Brand know that the guilty verdict could land him a “significant custodial term.”

In the meantime, he remains behind bars.

Fans React

When Megyn Kelly discussed the guilty verdict on her YouTube channel after the conviction news arrived, plenty of people went to the comments section to have their say.

One of them opined, “Over 20 years later and what seems to be zero proof only he said she said, absolutely ridiculous.”

Interestingly, a lot of people weren’t discussing the evidence presented in court. Rather, they focused on his political affiliations.

A viewer wrote, “Russell spoke up bravely against Government Abuse against it’s own people and he is being punished. Helps freeze speech for others who dare speak out.”

Another one opined, “They wanted to silence him because of his conservative views. It was a hit job.”

Meanwhile, others thought the case was badly handled because it took so long to get a conviction. One person wrote, “Such a travesty. 27 years ago and he’s supposed to remember anything about that? I cry for all of us. We are doomed.”

Another person agreed with the sentiment, writing, “Nothing but hearsay from 30 yrs ago! The world is doomed.”

Others expressed their sorrow for Russell’s family with comments like, “how devastating for him and his family.”
