General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Days of Our Lives alum Kate Mansi (Abigail DiMera) has taken over the legacy character of Kristina Corinthos-Davis. Lexi Ainsworth had been in the pivotal role, the Port Charles, New York daughter of Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn).
Soap Opera Digest broke the news minutes ago and there was zero forewarning of the dramatic casting change. Needless to say, daytime fans are blowing up the internet over the shocking recast news.
General Hospital spoilers: Dramatic Casting Change
According to the outlet, GH fans have seen the last of Ainsworth whose final airdate was April 27. Emmy award winner Mansi will debut in the role of the troubled young woman on May 22. Kristina’s turbulent life has included joining a cult from which she had to be kidnapped and deprogrammed.

There is no backstory given as to why the casting change took place and Ainsworth had been in the role 2009. At this time Kristina is running a bar in town and the rumor mill is churning with dish that Kristina will be a surrogate for her sister Molly Lansing-Davis (Hayley Pullos).
Molly and her husband TJ Ashford (Taj Bellow) are having trouble conceiving a child and it looks like the assistant DA has endometriosis which will block her chances of carrying a child.

Of course having Kristina be a surrogate mother will bring all kinds of dramarama, as she hasn’t been the most stable of Alexis’ daughters, but then again, who has with that Cassadine inspired gene pool?
If Kristina is a surrogate for her sister she will do so without having conceived a child of her own and we can see all sorts of attachment and obsession issues surfacing along with the hormones. But hey, the soaptastic stories are why watch soaps, right?
Mansi starred on DOOL as Abigail DiMera, another soapy heroine with a conflicted past including a bout of DID.

Wow, didn’t see that one coming. I really like Lexi in this role, but can understand a recast.

Well, I would rather this have been Molly that is leaving. I liked Lexi and thought she did a good job. I am not familiar with Kate Mansi so I don’t know how she will do in the role. This seems really sudden so I hope Lexi is doing well.
I hope that this was her choice to leave, and she wasn’t asked to leave. I enjoy the show, it’s entertaining, but I enjoy all of the younger bunch, they all do a great job.

It will take a little getting used to having Kate Mansi playing the role of Kristina, but she is a great actress. I loved her as Abigail DiMera on Days of Our Lives.
What the heck? I just read this past week how happy she was to be back on GH and hoped it would be more permanent! However she did say she traveled all over to many countries to get her head together after A breakup! I’ve seen Kate Mansi before and wish her well filling Lexi’s shoes in this role!
Lexi is the best,,,,be difficult to replace. Hope it wasn’t a $$ issue as that would be a bad mistake on GH writers part, Writing getting a little predictable anymore,,,aka boring. Lexi added pizaaz!
I loved Kate Mansi on DOOL so I’m quite sure she’ll do a great job on GH. Other people probably won’t agree with me about her taking over but I’m excited. I don’t watch DOOL anymore and now that Peacock isn’t going to be free on Xfinity starting June 26th I’m glad she is going to be on GH. I wouldn’t be surprised if GH & Y&R will be going to Peacock. I think they want us to start paying to see our soaps. This will probably happen after the writers strike ends.
Lexi does not look Latino….the new girl looks more like sonny…who is Latino….great move gh…I have been saying this for years about Lexi playing Kristina…lets be realistic about how sonnys daughter would look

I really liked Lexie . She is a good actress and has earned her job. I know the actress that is replacing her she is good as well. I wish they would keep Lexie!
