The Duggar family has made headline news again recently, thanks to a new documentary about the Duggars. But amid the interest in the clan who starred in 19 Kids And Counting, Josh Duggar stands out as the bad seed. And though he remains behind bars for his child pornography conviction, Josh also needs to pay the financial restitution that the court ordered.
Find out how Anna Duggar’s husband failed to fulfill his debts. And learn what that could mean for his future. Get all the details below.
Josh Duggar Spoilers – Fails To Pay Monetary Restitution
19 Kids And Counting alum Josh Duggar received guilty verdicts of possessing and receiving child pornography in December 2021. As a result, Duggar began serving a 151-month prison sentence in Texas. But the reality TV alum, 34, owes $50,100 in restitution for his child pornography conviction, according to the Sun.
The debt results from Josh’s sentencing verdict. But the Washington County Clerk’s office shows that Duggar did not pay that amount. However, his sentencing described the $50,100 restitution as due promptly. And the lien warns, “If payment becomes past due, penalties totaling up to 25 percent of the principal amount past due may arise.”
Josh’s prison release date recently changed from the initial date of August 22, 2032. And it shifted to October 2, 2032 after the 19 Kids And Counting alum ended up in solitary confinement for sneaking in a cell phone. Josh subsequently did move out of solitary confinement. But his delayed release remains the same.

Anna Duggar Spoilers – Helps Josh Duggar In Appeal
However, Josh might still hope that his appeal will succeed. The reality TV alum filed his request to get a new trial last year. Duggar’s lawyer Justin Gelfand claimed that federal agents allegedly took Josh’s phone when he attempted to contact his lawyer during a raid at his car lot. The raid occurred more than a year prior to Duggar’s arrest.
And Gelfand described the scenario. “[Josh] takes out his phone, physically puts it to his ear… for the purpose of contacting his legal counsel. Federal agents physically took the phone out of his hand and deprived him of the ability to communicate with his legal counsel,” added Duggar’s lawyer. However, Gelfand also said that Josh received inaccurate information about leaving after the raid.
Josh’s wife Anna Duggar has begged for leniency for her husband. And the stay-at-home mother of seven children explained that she worried about her financial situation. In a letter to Honorable Judge Timothy L. Brooks, Anna wrote, “Joshua has worked hard to provide for me and our (now) seven children. My children and I rely on Joshua for financial, emotional, and physical support. Many others depend on Joshua, too.”
