Former London Met Police Officers Charged With Sending Racist Texts About The Duke And Duchess of Sussex

\There’s a new report that says former London Met Police officers have been charged with sending racist WhatsApp messages.

Six of them, who are all in their 60s, have been charged with sending the texts. Several of them were about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, too. Here’s what you need to know.

According to the BBC, those who have been charged were part of the Diplomatic Protection Group. They have been charged under Section 127(1) (a) of the Communications Act 2003.

A statement from the Met said: “The charges follow an investigation by the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards which was launched following coverage by the BBC’s Newsnight programme in October last year.”

Commander James Harman, who leads the Met’s Anti-Corruption and Abuse Command, said: “As soon as we were made aware of these allegations we acted to launch an investigation. I am pleased that following the determined work of officers we have been able to secure these charges.

The honest majority of Met officers are fully behind this work. They are tired of being let down by a minority in policing and they are aware of the damage poor behavior can do to our relationship with the communities we serve.

Royal Fans Are Worried About Racism In The UK

It goes without saying that many royal fans and critics alike have had a lot to say about the matter on social media.

Some have even commented with, “I thought the UK was not racist… glad this has taken but what about those still serving that was also in the chat? Why have none of them been charged,” along with, “It doesn’t shock me at all that Harry and Meghan where featured in those texts. In fact it makes me sad that people think they are entitled to be nasty towards people that they have never met personally.”

Another critic wrote, “They deny their harassment and hostility towards Meghan is not racist. This is proof. We have known all this time.et no one is racist in the UK, and surely H&M don’t need protection whilst in the UK. Give me a break.”
