Since Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos started co-hosting “Live” together, they have witnessed changes in their marriage, and it’s something they’ve both talked about on the show.
Wanna know what it’s like working with your partner and being together almost 24/7? Ripa and Consuelos are living it.
Kelly Ripa’s – Absence From “Live” Is Not A Reflection Of Their Marriage
Earlier this year, Ryan Seacrest revealed that he would be saying goodbye to “Live” after co-hosting with Ripa for six years.
Shortly after, it was revealed that Ripa’s new co-host would be none other than her husband Mark Consuelos.
This is not the first time that the couple are working together, as they actually first met at work. Seriously, they did. It was 1995, and “All My Children” producers were looking for a love interest for Ripa’s character, who was a series regular at the time.
It was not easy finding Consuelos to play the role, but once Ripa set her eyes on him, she wasn’t only dreaming of onscreen romance, but a lifetime together.
“I auditioned him. They’d been looking for this character for some time … They didn’t want a dark-haired guy, they wanted a Latino actor,” Kelly revealed. “So, I had auditioned every Latino actor in the city and around the city and then California.”
She continued, “Then all of a sudden, Judy Blye Wilson, who was the casting director in All My Children, said, ‘I found him’ … [Judy] showed me his picture and … when I saw him, the photograph of him, I saw my entire future with him flash before [my eyes].”
Anyone who saw the two knows that their on-screen chemistry was too good to remain just onscreen, and a year later, the couple got married in Las Vegas.
And the rest, as they say, is history. Well until very recently when Ripa’s “Live” absences made fans suspect that all might not be hunky-dory with their relationship.
The suspicion started when Ripa was absent for most of the July episodes of the show, leaving Consuelos to lead the broadcasts with a series of guest co-hosts.
However, it is understood that this does not have any reflection on their personal life. The lovebirds celebrated their 27th anniversary this May 2023, and they’re pretty much in love as they were when they got married. 27 down, forever please.
