Jada Pinkett Smith – Complains About Life As Will Smith’s Wife
Ever talked about Jada Pinkett Smith and referred to her as Will Smith’s wife? Well, that description does count as factually correct.
But according to the 52-year-old actress via Yahoo, she views it as annoying and frustrating to hear that phrase.
Jada and Will tied the knot in 1997. But amid promoting her new memoir, the actress dropped a bombshell about their marriage. And she revealed that the couple had secretly split seven years ago.
However, although Jada and Will remain married, she feels upset that so many refer to her as the actor’s wife. And she explained, “It [being only known as Will’s wife] was more annoying than anything else. I had so much going on in regards to so many other emotional difficulties, it was kind of down on the list.”
Jada Pinkett Smith – Rejects Marriage
However, Will’s wife claims that the two want to repair the rift in their relationship. But Jada also shared that she dislikes the use of marriage to refer to their relationship. And she explained that she doesn’t want to follow convention or traditions.
“I try to stay away from conventional terms like ‘marriage’,” said Jada. “Because people have a very specific idea of it,” she added. “And I’m not in the business of trying to change that. I like spending time with me.”
However, the actress also shared that she enjoys “spending time with my family. And that’s it. I have no desire to do anything else but that.” Jada and Will share two children. But the actor also co-parents his son Trey from his marriage to Sheree Zampino.
Will Smith – Ranks As Most ‘Sought-After’ Actor
And Jada revealed that the couple always promised to stay “honest” with each other. But she explained why she felt that honesty seemed so important. “I wasn’t going to go into a marriage in my early 20s, in Tinseltown – Will being one of the most sought-after actors in the world – thinking we were exempt from having to confront inevitable temptations,” said Jada.
And she added, “I didn’t want to play that game.” As a result, the actress told Will, “This is where we have to have a level of friendship. This is where we have to be honest with one another.” And she feels their “friendship has been the core of what’s helped us get through some of the most difficult times.”
But Jada also shared that she took time to determine her priorities. “I had to get really solid on what my priority was. At the end of the day, that was my family. That doesn’t fit into what makes a powerful, independent woman? Leave a woman to decide for herself what is important to her,” she asserted. “It’s a lot of personal reconciling that helps us get that balance – recognizing that we’re not here to be everything to everybody, and that’s okay.”
