For a show that changes coaches every round, Blake Shelton has been our mainstay. Now that he’s gone, it feels like something special is missing from the show. Don’t get me wrong, the new cast are incredible, but Shelton’s always been there with his funny one-liners and country charm, and the beautiful musical insights. It’s just…
While Shelton believes he made the right choice walking away, there is one thing that can bring him back.
Blake Shelton – Details Reasons Why He Left “The Voice” After Being On The Singing Show For Many Years
In 2023, some cosmic “The Voice” button clicked when Blake Shelton surprised fans by announcing that he’s finally leaving the show. Remember, everyone from the original cast has left but Blake Shelton, but with Shelton’s exit, the last piece of “The Voice’s” humble beginnings chipped away.
For me, I felt like bringing another country artist Reba McEntire was a sign we’d lose “The Voice’s” OG country artist soon.
But if I’m not crying because it’s over, it’s because Shelton gave us 12 spectacular years on “The Voice” – across 23 seasons! – so that’s something to remember.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, the “Happy Anywhere” hitmaker revealed he left because he wasn’t feeling it anymore.
“I totally needed a break from that because if I wasn’t into it, then it wasn’t good for whoever was on my team,” he explained. “I don’t want to be someone who’s just going through the motions. Those artists need somebody fighting for them.”
Another thing that affected Blake’s ability to fully immerse himself in each season is the ever-revolving door of coaches that come and go: Camila Cabello, Kelly Clarkson, Ariana Grande, etc.
“The second I started feeling like, ‘Oh my gosh, I don’t even remember what season this is anymore. Who are the coaches on this season?’ [I knew that] I needed [to get] away from here,” he added.
Sadly for us, Blake doesn’t “miss the job at all.” However, he does miss certain aspects of it: “I miss the people. I mean, those people became like family to me, literally from the crew all up to the producers of the show. I was with them more than I was with my family… I miss that.”
Blake Shelton – Says He Will Return To “The Voice” On One Condition
Remembering that he met his now-wife Gwen Stefani on “The Voice,” he admitted that he’s not averse to returning.
“If they were ever able to put together the original four coaches again, maybe [I’d return] for one season, a one-off,” Blake told ET. “That would be fun for me… That would be something I would be interested in doing.”
So what is “The Voice” waiting for? A reunion of Cee Lo Green, Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton would be swell.
