Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist’s marriage may have lasted for only 3 months, but some believe there really was some real love shared between the two, which of course drove them to tie the knot in the first place.
The skeptics insist that we were all taken for a ride and the two had put on a marvelous show for us. Whichever it is, ‘Golden Bachelor’s’ Kathy Swarts believes it doesn’t give the public any right to pry into their personal lives.
‘Golden Bachelor’ Kathy Swarts On Why Gerry Turner And Theresa Nist Should Be Allowed To Go Through Their Divorce In Private, Despite Public Wedding
On the latest episode of ‘Bachelor Happy Hour: Golden Hour,’ which Swarts co-hosts with Susan Noles, 67, the two discussed Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist’s divorce, saying they need to be allowed to navigate it privately.
“We all feel like we want to know more we should know more, they owe us more,” Swarts, 70, said on the April 19 episode of the podcast.
“I’m kind of with Ben Higgins on this,” she continued. “Do we really have a right to know more? I don’t think so. I think that what they did had to be so hard publicly, to do it all publicly and you know, for that, I admire their courage.”
She went on to admit that the ex-couple’s romance had been very public, which is kind of now making it hard for them to seek a private divorce.
“These two did something very different than most people do,” she said of Nist, 70, and Turner, 72. “They met in public, they dated in public, they got engaged in public, they got married in public and they’re now getting divorced in public.”
Susan Noles Says Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist Were “Caught Up In A Moment”
For all those thinking that the ‘Golden Bachelor’s’ first couple had faked their love and their vows, their wedding officiator disagrees. According to Noles, who officiated the live, televised Golden Wedding, the ex-couple shared real love between them even if it’s for a brief time.
“We watched them fall in love and I cannot deny that that wasn’t real,” said Noles. “I believe it was real and they got caught up in a moment. Who are we to judge anybody out there? Who are we to judge? As I made a statement a couple days ago, it’s about being kind. Yes, I know the public, everybody was disappointed. We all are. But they have their reasons.”
She continued: “I did marry them in front of 11 million people and when I watched them say those vows, they meant what they said,” the TV personality emphasized. “So this isn’t a fake. I mean, a lot of people have different opinions. It was real. It was very, very real. And you have to admit that at 70-something years old, when reality hit and they had their discussions that it wasn’t going to work and they’re not going to waste their time.”
However, she did blame their mismatch on the ‘Golden Bachelor’ having a shorter run than a typical ‘Bachelor’ or ‘Bachelorette’ show.
