Days Of Our Lives News: Tokyo Summer Olympics Postponed – How Will It Affect DOOL?

We have some very good news for the Days of Our Lives fans. Usually, the NBC daytime drama is greatly impacted by the Summer Olympics. However, this year there is a change. Due to the coronavirus and its impact, the 2020 Summer Olympics which was originally set for July 24 through to August 9 has been rescheduled to 2021 instead.

So, what exactly does this mean for Days of Our Lives viewers and their favorite daytime soap opera? The original plan was to have the show preempted the entire two weeks to allow the airings of the Olympics. This is what usually happens anyway and the show would air a big cliffhanger just before the break leaving fans intrigued and anxious to view the show again when it returns after the Olympics.

Currently, NBC has not announced anything official just yet. But, in hopes of our show being on we’re expecting regular programming to be the final deal. In this case, the shows big cliffhanger planned for the last day before the break will not take so long to be resolved as in the past.

Days of Our Lives Spoilers – DOOL Fans Don’t Need To Worry

While we are not shown exactly what will happen in regards to the schedule for the games, it’s quite possible that 2021 will be the year for it. And, while there are no official reports relating that DAYS will air in light of this news, the show was already dealing with getting three episodes back when the French Open was postponed as a result of the coronavirus as well.

Jason47, a very informative and accurate DAYS source stated on his Facebook page that there are revised airdates for DAYS and 13 open dates are left to be filled with either new episodes, repeat episodes or alternative programming. There’s no telling just yet what the network will do.

Viewers need not worry as the show tapes so far in advance. Last we heard, Head Writer, Ron Carlivati was already putting his pen to Christmas episodes. The show tapes at least eight months in advance. Which means that they have shown to air at least through November.

Days of Our Lives premiered in 1965 and continues to be a successful daytime drama has won several Daytime Emmy Awards. The show is recognized worldwide. Ken Corday is the executive produced with Albert Arr and Greg Meng as co-executive producers.

    It look like we the DOOL fan won’t be losing any episode until the Toyko Summer Olympics until next year 2021. Good god for small favorite.
