‘DWTS’ Juliana Hough Reveals Her Thoughts On Anna Delvey

Dancing With the Stars (DWTS) Season 33 brought the controversial casting of Anna Delvey and Julianne Hough had something to say about it. Read on to find out what she thinks of the convicted fake heiress. 

Anna Delvey Shocked A Lot Of DWTS Fans

While a lot of people felt shocked and even disgusted by the casting of a convicted criminal, there was some grudging respect for her. Mostly it seemed that many people were fascinated by the Russian who convinced so many wealthy people that she was an heiress, and then scammed them out of a lot of cash. 

That’s not to say that the majority of people wish Anna Delvey well as she competes with her ankle monitor on. For example, a lot of Dancing With the Stars fans sided with Whoopi Goldberg who questioned why Anna was allowed to compete. Notably, she wondered, “if there’s a two-tiered system here with ICE.”

Julianne Hough Speaks Out On Call It What It Is 

On September 16, the author, actress, professional dancer, and co-host of Dancing with the Stars chatted with Jessica Capshaw and Camila Luddington on their podcast. She didn’t only talk about the controversial casting, but what she had to say revealed that she seemed enthusiastic. 

It was Camila Luddington who seemed the most enthusiastic about Anna Delvey being cast on DWTS. From her point of view, the controversial casting made the show seem a bit more exciting. So, she claimed, “I want her to win. I’m serious and by the way, she could be deported at any second.”

In reply, the Dancing With the Stars co-host said:

It’s controversial for sure. I’m so obsessed. There’s so much fun to be had with it and she like plays into it.

As Julianne Hough had watched the Netflix show, Inventing Anna, where Julia Garner played the role of Anna Delvey, she liked that DWTS might allow fans to see something of the real person. And, she agreed that it was a “great opportunity” for Anna. 

People Magazine reminds DWTS fans that Anna Delvey, a.k.a Anna Sorokin, “gained notoriety for posing as a wealthy German heiress and used her social standing to defraud wealthy people, banks, and hotels.” Now that she is out because of good behavior, her prison term of 12 years wasn’t fully completed.
