Prince Harry and Meghan Voice Their Opinions Before The U.S. Presidential Election

Prince Harry and Meghan Voice Their Opinions Before The U.S. Presidential ElectionPrince Harry and Meghan Markle have recently emphasized the importance of voter participation in the upcoming US presidential election, yet they have made it clear that they will not endorse any candidate.

The couple utilized their Archewell Foundation’s platform to spread this message in celebration of National Voter Registration Day.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Speak on The Importance of Voting

In a statement shared on the Archewell website, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex underscored the significance of voting: “Voting is not just a right; it’s a fundamental way to influence the fate of our communities.

At The Archewell Foundation, we recognize that civic engagement, irrespective of one’s political affiliation, is essential for fostering a just and equitable society.”

They continued, “By participating in initiatives like this, we aim to amplify the message that every voice matters.” They urged people to get involved by volunteering and writing letters to potential voters through Vote Forward’s website and to register to vote at Vote.gov, stating, “Together, let’s make sure every eligible voter is informed and empowered to participate in shaping America’s future.”

Abstinence From Political Discussion

Despite their prior political discussions, Harry and Meghan have decided to abstain from politics this election. They had previously featured in a video during the most recent US presidential election, which took place in September 2020, urging people to “vote against hate speech,” without endorsing any particular candidate.

Their stance has drawn some reactions from political figures. Former Republican Congressman Charlie Dent has advised the Sussexes to stay neutral amid the highly polarized election environment, suggesting that celebrity endorsements may not have the impact some expect.

Past Decision on Political Endorsement

The couple’s decision to refrain from endorsing a candidate is consistent with their past behavior.

Despite their previous public criticism of Donald Trump—who had called Meghan “divisive” and wished Harry “good luck”—Harry and Meghan have maintained a position of neutrality in their public statements.

In 2020, their remarks about the election and rejecting bigotry stirred some controversy, but they did not directly support Joe Biden or Donald Trump.

This approach continues to be a point of debate, particularly given Meghan’s prior comments about Trump’s divisive nature and the reactions they provoked.

Despite the personal and political controversies surrounding them, Harry and Meghan’s focus remains on encouraging voter engagement rather than political endorsements.
