British royal family news divulges that Princess Catherine was well enough to participate in Remembrance events in London this past weekend.
She made back-to-back appearances after scaling back her duties following a cancer diagnosis, and subsequent treatment, earlier this year.
Will Kate Middleton return to full time duty for the rest of 2024? While the princess looked happy and healthy, one royal expert doesn’t think that Catherine is back full time.
Princess Catherine – Will Continue To Take It Easy
Royal pundit Sally Bedell Smith told People that Catherine’s appearances at the Festival of Remembrance at Royal Albert Hall and the Remembrance Sunday service at The Cenotaph is a good sign that her recovery is going well.
But Bedell Smith thinks that Kate is slowly “coming back … She is doing it in her own way and at her own pace, and carefully.”
She added that Catherine has no doubt missed being able to serve as a senior royal: “I don’t think she has wanted to disappoint people, and even though they said weeks ago that she’d like to be there, it was only on Friday that they confirmed it.”

While Kate’s attendance at two events in London was a welcome sight, there were some concerns over Queen Camilla’s absence. According to Buckingham Palace, King Charles’ second wife was not in attendance because she is battling a chest infection.
Kate completed chemotherapy this summer, sharing that information in a touching video message released on Sept. 9. While Kate was sidelined, she continued working from home on her various projects.

Kate was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer following a planned abdominal surgery in January.
She broke the cancer news in a video released on March 22 and was away from official duty until her appearance at the June 15 Trooping the Colour event.
On July 14 she attended Wimbledon to present the men’s finals trophy and on Oct. 10 she traveled to Southport with her husband Prince William. There they met with the families of victims of a mass stabbing attack in the city.

Kate attended Remembrance events on Saturday and Sunday, marking the first time she has appeared in back-to-back public events this year.
It is now expected that Kate will hold her annual Christmas carol concert at Westminster Abbey in December. Sally Bedell Smith notes that Catherine “is clearly a vital piece of the royal family, really important both symbolically and in reality as a future Queen … It was good that people saw her.”
