ITV Coronation Street updates and spoilers reveal that Yasmeen Metcalfe (Shelley King) gets a visit from Alya Nazir (Sair Khan). She begs Yasmeen to expose Geoff Metcalfe’s (Ian Barthomelew) abuse. However, the grandmother refuses, even if it would help her avoid prison time. Geoff’s manipulation continues to affect Yasmeen’s thinking, even though they are apart.
Coronation Street Spoilers – Alya Nazir’s Desperate Plea
Corrie spoilers reveal that Alya goes to the prison to reason with her grandmother. She doesn’t understand why Yasmeen won’t tell anyone about Geoff’s horrific abuse. She begs Yasmeen to speak up and that it could help her avoid prison. However, the imprisoned grandmother has no intention of defending herself.
Yasmeen Metcalfe’s Refusal
Some fans are wondering why Yasmeen wouldn’t do what she could to save herself from a prison sentence. While some victims are embarrassed to admit they were victims of abuse, Yasmeen has not reached that point yet. Right now, she still views herself as a terrible person who attacked her husband.
Coronation Street Spoilers – Long-Term Effects Of Mental Manipulation
Yasmeen endured abuse, control, and mental manipulation month after month. It went on for nearly two years. Even though she is away from Geoff now, he is still in her head. Coronation Street spoilers indicate that Geoff still affects Yasmeen’s thought process, reasoning ability, and decisions.
Programmed Responses
Remember when Yasmeen kept insisting she had to go see Geoff after he was taken to the hospital? It’s not because she wanted to finish the job or check on his health. Her voice was rushed, frenzied, panicked, and desperate. She wanted to apologize and beg Geoff for forgiveness.
She knew that when he recovered, she would pay the price and was hoping to lessen the consequences. Obviously, she was not thinking clearly and didn’t realize that she might not ever go home.
Coronation Street Spoilers – Guilt And Shame
There is also the possibility that Yasmeen is feeling guilty. Victims are often programmed to blame themselves for every act of abuse. Even though the grandmother was in fear of her life and was defending herself, she can hear Geoff’s voice telling her that it’s all her fault. If she just did this, if she wouldn’t have said that, if she just would stop making him so angry are all examples of that.

It is also likely that Yasmeen is feeling shame about the whole situation. In her mind, she might think she deserves punishment. It certainly doesn’t help that Geoff has manipulated and lied to everyone about Yasmeen. He put the safeguards in place a long time ago. That way, nobody would ever believe her. However, it is teased that Alya and Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) will be pivotal in the truth coming out, per The Sun.
