Debbie’s Medical Tests, Carl And Abi’s Clash
Next week, Carl Webster’s (Jonathan Howard) arrival leads to a major conflict with Abi Webster (Sally Carman-Duttine); meanwhile, Debbie maintains an optimistic attitude as she prepares for a challenging journey ahead.
Abi is finding it difficult to share her home with her brother-in-law Carl and demands that he leave so she can spend some quality time with Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell).
This is after his chemotherapy treatment; Carl agrees to step out, assuring Kev that he will return to take him to his next session.
Later, when Abi calls Kevin, Carl picks up the phone and informs her that they are at the Rovers; furious Abi storms into the pub and confronts Carl.
After visiting the memory clinic and scheduling an MRI scan, Debbie tells her family that she believes in living life to the fullest and plans to do just that.
Dee-Dee’s Search For Justice
Dee-Dee meets with a representative from the Patient Advice and Liaison Service, who informs her that they are looking into her complaint. They say that her midwife, Zoe Harker (Natalie Blair), is responsible for the issues she faced after childbirth.
After leaving the hospital, Dee-Dee encounters Asha Alahan (Tanisha Gorey) and finds Zoe in a serious conversation; Zoe expresses her regret to Dee-Dee but insists that she is not at fault.
Asha urges Dee-Dee to reconsider her complaint, warning that it could jeopardize Zoe’s career-however, Dee-Dee remains firm, highlighting that she experienced racism. When she spots nurse Wes (uncredited) from the hospital, she does not realize he is Zoe’s brother.
Dee-Dee Speaks To Alya About The Investigation
As the week goes on, Dee-Dee informs Alya Nazir (Sair Khan) that the hospital’s investigation found no evidence of misconduct. Alya accompanies Dee-Dee to a support group, where they talk with other mothers, and Dee-Dee comes to understand that all of them have faced traumatic childbirth experiences.
At the Rovers, Dee-Dee shares that Black women are four times more likely to die during childbirth, leaving the other women in disbelief.
Dee-Dee then confronts Asha, stating that if the hospital won’t hold Zoe responsible, she will take matters into her own hands. Will Dee-Dee achieve justice?
