The fan speculation has been stoked by word of one of the show’s storylines being tweaked which will air months from now.

For those who are sure that it is Gary’s storyline on the line, they hope he will get his comeuppance for Rana Habeeb’s (Bhavna Limbachia) death, on her wedding day no less, and for killing Rick Neelan (Greg Wood).

As you might have guessed, the plot switch is said to be due to the coronavirus pandemic mandates and regulations, not to mention the hiatus that the show has undergone.

The Covid-19 isolation period and lockdown, combined with new filming guidelines, has necessitated that Corrie honchos rewrite some plots because they were not plausible given the current circumstances. Apparently it was in May that Rick’s body was to be found.

According to Metro.co.uk, show boss Iain MacLeod hinted that one week, in particular, would involve Gary’s comeuppance along with the fact that a body would found. No details were divulged but the leak was enough to get fans speculating that Gary would be leaving the cobbles.

Nonetheless, the show has stated that the woods would be revisited soon, but it remains unclear if Rick’s body would be found or if at that time the truth would emerge.

In the meantime, Corrie’s production was stopped in March due to coronavirus precautions. In what was terrific news to worried fans, the show resumed filming in early June.

After the hiatus began, the show decided to air three episodes a week instead of six in a bid to remain on the air.

Now comes word from MacLeod that a big plot anticipated for May has been rescheduled to air later in the year.

He did not say which plot he was referring to but fans are pretty sure that all of the particulars point to the story being Gary’s killing spree comeuppance!
