In tonight’s When Hope Calls: Brookfield, Constable Michael Fletcher wasn’t one for goodbyes. He was being reassigned to the field. He told Nora.
They spent his last few days in Brookfield together. It just wasn’t together together. Neither of them has declared their feelings.
Michael also believed he’d be coming back after his work was done. He’d better hurry back because that new pastor was already making inroads. Nora was getting to know him. He didn’t seem like the type to up and leave and that’s how she’s viewing Michael’s departure.
Michael finally opened up then he was gone. Or almost gone. For a man that doesn’t like goodbyes, he was surely dragging his out. Nora needed a distraction from it all and that’s where Maggie stepped in. Maggie was having issues with Sam. They kissed.
They fell in love. Sam was going to tell her how he felt and she first told him that she wasn’t liking the new him. He was getting that a lot. Tess didn’t even recognize him because she thought he was looking like a land grabber. It finally pushed Sam to ask someone he knew wasn’t angry at him for reasons he didn’t understand.
Sam talked to Joe. He kinda missed him after he moved into the hotel. He asked if he changed. Joe admitted he had and said no matter what they were still friends. Sam then suggested he’d move back in with Joe. Let Ronnie have the owner’s suite back.
Joe was so happy that he hugged Sam. He also might have cried a bit. Joe hated living with Ronnie. Ronnie was so talkative and he managed to draw his life story out into hours long segments. Joe was happy to get rid of him. Maggie was also wondering if she was too harsh when she heard about Sam giving the owner’s suite back.
Sam wasn’t Ronnie. He might have started to act a little like Ronnie by trying to prioritize the hotel. He just wasn’t bad as the guy.
Maggie had felt like Sam talked over her and decided what she wants or likes. It seemed harsh in hindsight. Maggie was all set on apologizing to Sam and talking to him about her feelings when Sam rushed into something.
Sam was preparing to prose to her. He wanted it to be big. Flashy. He went to Ronnie for advice and Ronnie has proposed more times than he can count making him the last person anyone should go to for advice.
There was also some big news. Tess found out that Tom Clay was about to sell his land. This was the same rancher that chased get rich quick schemes so many times that the banks refused to loan him money anymore. He had to get a personal loan from Tess.
Which he reneged on. He was late with payments and had finally given up. He was planning on selling his ranch to developers so Tess stopped him.
She foreclosed on his ranch. He hadn’t made his payments in time. She was able to take it and it turned the other ranchers against her.
It even turned Wyatt against her. He said she was just like L&M. Stealing land from good ranchers. He refused to hear Tess as she explained that she was trying to stop L&M from gaining a foothold in Brookfield.
He thought her a bad guy. He was so angry that he failed to notice that Hannah was asking for something more. Hannah didn’t just want to be his boss.
She made dinner. She set the table with candlelight. She wore a new outfit that she designed herself and Wyatt didn’t pick up on any of the signs.
Wyatt was too busy comforting Lucie. Lucie quit Tess’s ranch after she felt Tess stole her father’s land. The whole town had pretty much turned against Tess.
Michael was alone in talking to her and so he was the first to hear the good news. She was now a grandmother. The baby girl was born in London. Her name is Tessa. Michael said she’ll grow up to be a force to be reckoned with. Just like her grandmother.
Its sad that he’s leaving. Tess could really use a friend about now. She was alone without Lucie. Lucie took a job at Hannah’s ranch and possibly her man.
Lucie wasn’t coming back anytime soon.
Tess has to manage her increased land all by her lonesome. Hannah was off to New York to promote her collection. Nora finally confessed her feelings to Michael and he refused to start something he couldn’t finish.
The most he could offer was allowing his deputy Rufus the dog to stay at the orphanage. The kids made a mural to honor where they came from as well as those they lost.
Michael possibly being one of them. But it wasn’t all gloom. Hannah got to hug Wyatt goodbye as she left for a few weeks. And Sam popped the question.
Sam did it his way over Ronnie’s. He went back to his old clothes. His old hair. He also provided the gold while he used Maggie’s amethyst as the stone. The ring was a little of both of them.
He loved Maggie and he finally said so tonight. She gave him an “I Love You” back. She also accepted the ring once she knew how much thought Sam put into it.
She said yes. And together they got to hear the Pastor’s first sermon. He was good at that too. He brought the whole town together in worship.
THE END!
