Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly faced new security problems with their family routine this week, leading to allegations of irresponsible media intrusion targeting their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Read on for more details.
Reckless Behavior
Multiple outlets reported that paparazzi targeted Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, at their school in England.
A spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex described photographers allegedly circling the school and watching the children as “extraordinarily reckless,” according to Reuters.
CNN reported that “two young men carrying backpacks, later identified as international photographers, [were] walking around the school and stopping to look into the grounds.”
Meanwhile USA Today noted that “The incident has sparked fresh security concerns for the Sussexes, who lost their taxpayer-funded security.”
The outlet also noted that the two men were spotted together and separately before they left in a hired white van.
Security Concerns
The incident ties right back into Harry’s history with the paparazzi surrounding the death of his mother, Diana, Princess of Wales. It also brings more focus on Harry’s longstanding fight over his level of police protection in Britain.

Reuters reported that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s rep said, “The decision by photographers to conduct themselves in this way around a school is extraordinarily reckless.”
The couple’s representative made it clear that watching children at school crosses a line. They added, “certain European paparazzi appear unwilling to respect the privacy of children at school.”
Viewers React
When Good Morning Britain reported the story on YouTube, some people didn’t react with a lot of concern and it became clear that some see it as the duo crying wolf too often.
One commenter wrote, “They have made this a problem ….. posted kids ( be it the back of heads ), photos of where they are staying ….. press prob used AI to work out all that ….. if they feel safer in USA ….GO BACK . Big yawn.”
Here are a few more responses from the discussion:
- “Oh. Come on. Honestly read the room. They expose themselves and location on social media constantly.”
- “Ha! But it was ok for Harry to take cameras into a school recently and shove cameras in the face of kids. So those children didn’t matter then?”
- “If it’s so dangerous in GB, go back to Cali. Nothing ever happened to you there.”
- “Leave kids out of this. Seriously.”
- “Taking pictures of ANY Child AT SCHOOL should BE ILLEGAL in SCHOOL HOURS and AFTERSCHOOL.”
While the safety of children is paramount, some commenters speculated that the latest security concerns could bolster Harry’s case for greater police protection for his family in Britain.
