Royal family fans have heard a lot about Prince Harry wanting to be half-in and half-out as a working royal, but that’s not happening. Read on to find out what the problems are for him and Meghan.

Monetizing As Royals

On Friday’s NewsNation podcast segment with Paula Froelich, she discussed a lot about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. But one segment was revealing because she discussed “Why a working royal can’t monetize their causes.”

Her guest, PR and marketing expert Jackie Vause explained why it’s a big problem for Prince Harry.

She noted that “It’s a tricky one for them because… when he’s asked to come and speak, it’s usually built into his contracts that everyone wants to hear about royal life and probably hear about his mother.”

Half In Is A Dilemma

She seemed to understand that it could be quite hard for folks to figure out what he’s trying to do. But she also noted, “as a commercial person to have that deal dealt out to him,” can’t be easy.

The other problem that he faces is the fact that if he gets working royal status, then he’ll not be monetized. She added, “a working royal serves causes selflessly. They don’t monetize those causes.”

You might have heard that Prince Harry is doing rather a lot of speaking functions that focus on his mental health, and one of the major fields for him seems to be about his mom, Princess Diana, who died and how he deals with grief.

A Catch 22

Jackie said that allegedly, “he’s constantly falling down because he’s using the grief to monetize and commercially make some money out of it.”

The panel agreed that being either a working royal and acting selflessly doesn’t line any pockets. So, it might be that Prince Harry has a Catch-22 on his hands.

There have been rumors that he might be struggling for cash since he lost his lawsuit against Associated Newspapers, and reportedly, Meghan Markle isn’t doing all that well with As Ever. But it does seem that she has plans to migrate her brand from the US.

Followers React

In the comments section, one royal family follower wrote, “What a great way to help someone experiencing grief!! Charge them to listen to a rich prince cry about grief from almost 30 years ago. That’s really gross!”

Here are a few more responses from the discussion:

  • “If hazard has been in therapy for 30 years, and it hasn’t helped him, why would anyone listen to anything he has to say about grief and recovery?!? He’s milking Diana’s death for his own profit. Disgusting….”
  • “The public is completely exhausted by these two.”
  • “he’s doing explicitly what his grandmother told him not to. These two never accept NO for an answer!”
  • “A masterclass for grief? Everyone handles grief differently. No one can teach people about that.”
