Does your employer offer a dirt cheap open bar? No? If this sounds like a better perk than free pizza and donuts, maybe you should consider working for Queen Elizabeth who makes potent potables available to her staff.
Bryan Kozlowski has just written, Long Live the Queen! 13 Rules for Living from Britain’s Longest Reigning Monarch, and in it, he drops some eye-opening tidbits, like the part about the queen letting her staff imbibe on the cheap. And according to him, the Queen is very chill about the occasional passing out.
How Does Queen Elizabeth Feel About Her Employees Drinking On The Job?
According to Kozlowski, one staffer got so drunk they passed out on the bottom of a staircase and Her Majesty didn’t bat an eyelash. Or yell off with their head, either.
Having access to booze is just one of the many perks you can accrue if you’re employed at the palace. For starters, if you are a royal fan, what could be better than gawking at them up close and personal while you ladle up the vichyssoise or Hoover the carpets? One assumes there are questions in the interview process to weed out the riff-raff, however.
Let’s face it, if you can make it at Buckingham Palace, you can make it anywhere! What Holiday Inn would reject a housekeeper who’s turned down the queen’s bed?
Cheap Alcohol Is One Of The Top Notch Perks To Being A Royal Employee
Kozlowski writes, “By decree of the boss lady at the top, kicking back with a well-deserved tipple is practically a human right.”
This is why if you find yourself lucky enough to work for the UK’s longest-serving monarch, you will have access to a, “subsidized staff bar at the Palace with dirt-cheap gin and tonics and other bevys daily up for grabs.”

Kowalski adds, “The Queen is said to turn a relaxed eye away from members of her household who occasionally overdo it on the sherry and shenanigans themselves. Like the time Elizabeth supposedly found a drunk servant sprawled at the bottom of a staircase.”

“Without putting a pearl out of place, she merely requested to anyone within earshot, “’Would someone please come and pick Frank up, I think he’s a little under the weather.’”
