Angelina Jolie’s Los Angeles based divorce war with Hollywood actor Brad Pitt just incurred another misstep days before the trial is set to start after a second attorney working on her behalf exited her camp.
Angelina can’t seem to keep her lawyers around her as it’s being reported that Priya Sopori, a Los Angeles-based former federal prosecutor working with a lead lawyer, Samantha DeJean, is over and out. The news came after a Notice of Withdrawal of Attorney of Record was filed with LA Superior Court, according to DailyMail.com.
The couple has been unable to come to a custody agreement over their children, Pax, 16, Zahara, 15, Shiloh, 14, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 12. Right now the circumstances surrounding the departure are not clear: did Jolie fire Sopori or did the lawyer quit?
Angelina Jolie Has Had Two Lawyers Depart Her Legal Team Before It Goes To Trial
An insider told DailyMail.com, “Angelina has fought tooth and nail to get what she wants in this divorce, when it comes to her kids she won’t back down.”
They added, “She’s paying her legal team a fortune, so if she believes one of her lawyers needs to go she won’t hesitate to pull the trigger.”
The long-running divorce has been going on for four years and before the latest legal exit, LA divorce attorney Laura Wasser left Angelina’s team in 2018. She has a reputation as a bulldog but reportedly left after the case became too, “venomous and nasty.”
Angelina Jolie’s Previous Lawyer Had Worked Successfully With Johnny Depp, Kim Kardashian, And Ashton Kutcher
Wasser’s reputation is as a lawyer who tries to promote compromise between fighting couples and encourage shared custody of children.
But up to this point, Angelina is determined to not allow her ex a 50/50 custody deal as she wants to raise them out of the country.
It was reported at the time that Wasser’s reconciliatory approach was in opposition to Jolie’s insistence to not compromise.
Why Does Angelina Jolie Have One Attorney Left After She Hired Three?
The upcoming custody trial will be held in private. DailyMail.com has revealed that there are 21 witnesses who will be testifying during the trial. These include a cluster of personal assistants and bodyguards, security experts from two continents, a former co-star of Jolie, and a retinue of child psychologists and doctors ready to give evidence.
Domestic violence expert Alyce LaViolette will also be testifying in what promises to be a contentious trial between two very determined parents.
