Coronation Street spoilers, news, and updates tease that the show has finally shifted its tone on how its characters reacted to the current far-right extremism storyline. In the soap’s recent episode, some Weatherfield residents have started to acknowledge the dangerous times they’re living in.
Coronation Street Spoilers – Characters’ Lack Of Reaction To Extremism Storyline
Coronation Street welcomed the New Year with lots of drama as it continued to explore Max Turner’s (Paddy Beaver) extremism storyline. Despite the botched bombing of the Peace Market and the stabbing incident at Speed Daal, Corrie residents don’t seem to care.
It would seem like the residents were quick to move on to face the next crisis without really exploring how the shock moments have affected them. Take, for instance, Griff Reynold’s ( ) plan to blow up the Peace Market back in January. Many of the show’s favorite characters came off as uncaring over the incident.
The same thing can be said about Alya Nazir’s (Sair Khan) stabbing incident. She was a popular character in the show, but the other residents didn’t seem to bat an eye. Several characters were involved in the extremism storyline, such as Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon), Daryan Zahawi (Twana Omer), and Spider Nugent (Martin Hancock). The show could have found better ways to use the harrowing incidents to cause a genuine reaction among the residents.
Corrie Spoilers – Alya Makes Victim Impact Statement
In a recent episode, Coronation Street finally shifted its tone and showed how the stabbing incident affected Alya. The latter’s victim-impact statement to Yasmeen Metcalfe (Shelley King) before facing Blake in court was a tear-jerking moment and a redeeming scene because, at first, it seemed like her recent ordeals were ignored.
Max, who was recently confronted by Alya, also showed genuine remorse about what he’s done. He’s also expressed to his family how he plans to redeem himself and make amends.
Coronation Street Spoilers – Boss Hints Future For Max
Max is currently facing a six-month sentence after pleading guilty to supporting terrorism. But Corrie’s boss Iain MacLeod said that things would start to get better for the young lad.
In a recent appearance on Loose Women, MacLeod said, “He’s going to get a happy ending in the end.”
“It’s important that we showed a story where somebody who’s gone that far down the wrong path, there is the chance to pull them back,” he continued.
“The story at its heart was supposed to be about a family dealing with: ‘How do you communicate with a teenager that’s gone this far off-track? How do you bring them back into the fold? How do you redeem them?’” he added.
MacLeod hinted that there would be a happy ending, and it involves a love story. Max is bound to meet a love interest that would shock viewers.
