Coronation Street Spoiler: Dee-Dee Bailey Supports Paul Following MND Diagnosis

Coronation Street spoilers, news, and updates tease that Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) will continue to offer Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) the support he needs following his Motor Neurone Disease diagnosis. She’ll encourage him to tell his loved ones but will he listen to her advice?

In upcoming scenes, viewers will see Dee-Dee remain Paul’s trusted confidant as he continues to keep his MND diagnosis a secret from his partner Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank), sister Gemma Winter (Dolly-Rose Campbell), and mother Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove).

However, Paul’s desire to understand and cope with his condition leads Dee-Dee to introduce him to Trish, a woman who shares her personal experience with MND after losing her husband to the same disease.

Trish explains the different stages of MND to Paul and what he can expect as the disease progresses. Dee-Dee also urges him to come clean to his loved ones. He now has a clear picture of what he’ll be dealing with but the question remains. Will he tell his family about his condition?

Why Is Paul Hesitant to Tell His Family About His Condition?

In an interview with Digital Spy, Peter Ash opened up about the reason why he’s not telling his family yet about his condition. The actor explained that he wants to make sure about his diagnosis before he tells anyone within his family. He’s also concerned about financial problems, especially with his sister’s upcoming wedding.

“Paul thinks there’s too much going on in everyone’s lives at the moment to unload that on them. He bottles it up and keeps it in, which must be such an isolating feeling,” the actor continued.

Coronation Street is working with the MND Association for this particular storyline. The actor hopes that the show’s viewers will get to know more about the condition and become more understanding and sympathetic toward those who are suffering from it in real life.

“I just hope that it brings awareness and the general public can see what people who live with this go through on a daily basis. It’s about the loved ones of the person as well, because it affects so much of their lives and it’s tough,” he said.

“I hope that people can understand the condition more. There’s one scene in the pub where Paul is struggling to pick up a glass and George accuses him of being drunk. We’re showing little things like that, which obviously people with MND have to deal with,” he continued.
