Coronation Street spoilers: Amy Dumps Jacob After Parents Pressure Her

Coronation Street spoilers have revealed that Amy Barlow will have to end her newfound romance with Jacob Hay after her family learns about them.

The previous drug dealer Jacob (Jack James Ryan) made a comeback on the cobbles, promising Amy (Elle Mulvaney) that he has turned a new leaf. Amy has secretly dated him, teasing her friends Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) and Asha Alahan (Tanisha Gorey) earlier this week that she’s seeing a mystery guy.

But Jacob is not on the list of Amy’s family’s desired guy for her because of his involvement with the villain Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor) which put Amy’s aunt Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) in hell after Jacob groomed her adoptive son Simon (Alex Bain) last year.

However, hell will break loose next week when their secret relationship is exposed because Amy, as the youngest who just celebrated her debut with friends, tries a fun night at the club but falls victim to drink spiking.

After the Valentine’s Dance at school, the girls alongside Aadi (Adam Hussain) meet up with Jacob outside the club but Amy feels woozy on the dance floor and collapses.

Her parents Tracy (Kate Ford) and Steve (Simon Gregson) are horrified to see her seemingly lifeless body at the hospital. Steve accuses Jacob of the drugging and the young man feels it’s the right opportunity to reveal their secret relationship, assuring the father that harming Amy is not on his vocabulary.

However, when Amy feels better, she faces her family’s judgments with Steve wanting her to get rid of Jacob forever but she insists she’s already of legal age and must decide things on her own. This time Leanne intervenes and calls Number 1 to reprimand her for getting involved with the drug dealer.

Amy then changes her mind when she learns the police has nabbed Jacob for selling fake IDs, which Simon later confesses he’s responsible for.

For the last time, Amy meets Jacob at her home’s garden to end things with him, explaining that she has no choice. Will she regret her decision? What will Jacob do learning that it’s her whole family who’s against him?

Corrie boss Iain McLeod previously hinted that this storyline is a “rich story” because the characters are “cast iron Corrie” and it’s “Meet the Parents proper Corrie style.”

He also teased that it will place Jacob in another light and the ITV fans will see different sides of him, explaining why he behaved badly in the past. “He did do some heinous things but he is mature enough to know he has to put things right,” he said.

Will Jacob prove to Amy’s parents he’s a changed man and that he deserves another chance?
