On “Coronation Street,” fans got a quick preview of Ken Barlow’s (William Roache) exit from the cobbles. He was firm about his decision to move out of No. 1 earlier this year but lately, it seems like he’s having second thoughts.
The show shared a photo of Ken and Claudia in the complex. Claudia Colby (Rula Lenska) looks excited to move in at the retirement community Still Waters. But Ken is starting to have doubts.
Coronation Street Spoilers: Ken Barlow Has Second Thoughts
Ken reveals later on that he and Claudia plan to move in soon. Meanwhile, Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) makes her own plans with Ken’s soon to be former home. If there’s one person who is least ecstatic about the Ken’s news, it’s Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne). He and Simon are left worried about where they’re going go to live.
Having some reservations about his upcoming move, Ken decides to call Tracy and Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) to delay the sale of No. 1 for the time being. But he gets cold feet after seeing how excited the pair are and can’t bring himself to tell them that he’s having doubts. Tracy will notice Ken’s unusual behaviour.
Meanwhile, Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls) has something else on his mind. She believes that Claudia is forcing Ken to make a decision that he doesn’t want to do. Will Ken change his mind? Or will he stick to his plan to leave the cobbles?
Coronation Street Spoilers: Roache Isn’t Leaving Corrie
Viewers need to remember that Ken is leaving the cobbles but Roache isn’t exiting the show. Once Ken and Claudia settle on their new home, future episodes will feature their new adventures together.
Roache has been with “Coronation Street” from the start. The sudser recently reached a significant milestone when it aired it 10,000 episode. The show has been running for 60 years and it’s something that’s truly amazing.
“10,000 episodes, who would have believed that, nobody when it started, if they’d offered me a 60 year contract I probably would have run a mile at the time!” he said.
It’s amazing, actually it’s not amazing we’re still going, Tony Warren set the heart of the street as a community that cares and you can’t go far wrong. You can have police dramas, hospital dramas, all sorts of things,” he added.
“We’re about people, so you have all of those, you have the police, you have hospitals, but we’re just about people. And so long as the stories are character based it could go on forever. Well, 60 years in television terms is almost forever isn’t it,” he continued.
