Coronation Street Spoilers- Maureen Lipman Has Been With Coronation Street For Five Years

The actress has been with Coronation Street for five years, and her contract is about to end this coming September. Lipman revealed that she’s considering extending her stay for another year. In an interview with The Mirror, the actress said that she loves being part of a company, and she considers the soap as the “National Theatre of Television.”

“I won’t hear a word against it. It’s full of quite exceptional actors working with very little rehearsal, very little direction,” she said during a previous interview with Reader’s Digest when she signed her contract back in July 2022. “Am I envious of some of my peers? Sometimes, yes. Do I have the right to be? Of course not. Would I like to be in Sex Education? Yes, of course. Am I sorry I’ve signed up with Corrie for another year? No, I’m not,” she considered.

In her latest interview, she revealed that she relates to her alter ego very much. They’re both assertive, and they stand their ground. However, she doesn’t have a habit of stealing bottles of brandy from convenience stores. “But I know that woman inside out. I know where she shops; I know why she’s tight. I know why she wouldn’t get her vest off when she had a lover,” she said.

When asked about her character’s relationship with Roy, Lipman said that she’s not a very forgiving person, especially when it comes to losing her beloved pet. However, Roy Cropper David Neilson) is her close friend, even if they’re total opposites.

Coronation Street Spoilers – Maureen Lipman Joins Rose To The West End

Meanwhile, Lipman also talked about her performance on Rose to the West End. Back in January, it was announced that she’d be taking a brief break from the soap for the play. She shared that playing the part was scary because she couldn’t stop and start, like when shooting a scene at the cobbles.

Martin Sherman’s two-hour monologue was a hit at Manchester’s Hope Mill Theater and North London’s Park Theatre. Its next stop is at the Ambassadors Theatre on May 23.
