Coronation Street Spoilers: Alum Wendi Peters Talks Possibility of A Cilla Return

Coronation Street spoilers, news, and updates tease that Wendi Peters opens up about the possible return of her former alter ego, Cilla Battersby-Brown. Will she return to Weatherfield, especially with Chesney Brown’s (Sam Aston) upcoming nuptials?

Peters played Cilla for three years. She exited the soap back in 2007, but she made a brief appearance in Weatherfield in 2014. Fans are now wondering if she’ll return, given that her on-screen son, Chesney, is getting married to Gemma Winter (Dolly-Rose Campbell).

The actress said that nobody had informed her character that her son was getting married. It would be nice to see Cilla share some hilarious scenes with Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) and Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove).

“I heard Chesney’s getting married, but I don’t think anybody’s told his mother,” the actress quipped. “I think it would be funny if Cilla met Evelyn and Bernie. Maureen Lipman is a comic genius, and Jane Hazlegrove is a brilliant actress,” Peters added. “I can imagine them having some great comedy scenes round the wedding buffet, but who knows?” she continued.

Fans can catch Peters in BBC One’s soap, Doctors. She’s set to make an entrance this week as Dr. Nina Bulsara, where “everyone gets blown up.” It seems like she’ll be busy with her new gig. “Cilla made a big impact and I’m glad she gets a mention now and again, but I’m happy where I am,” Peters explained.

When it comes to the outfit, the actress prefers her wardrobe on Doctors compared to what she wore when she was in Coronation Street. She likes to wear Nina’s nicer clothes than Cilla’s outlandish outfits.

Coronation Street  Spoilers – Character Returns For Zeedan Nazir’s Storyline

There may be no official statement regarding Peter’s return, but the soap confirmed the comeback of a familiar character amid Zeedan Nazir’s (Qasim Akhtar) storyline.

Marrium (Kiran Linda), Zeedan’s estranged wife, will return next week to confront him about the death of her father, Hashim Elamin (Vincent Ebrahim). The latter suffered a heart attack back in December 2021. When that happened, Zeedan and Alya Nazir (Sair Khan) delayed calling an ambulance because Hashim had been causing trouble for their family during that time. It was Ryan Connor who called for help, but it was already too late.
