Coronation Street’s Stephen Reid Fails To Defend Himself From His Lies

Coronation Street spoilers, news, and updates tease that Stephen Reid got caught with his lies when he failed to explain himself against Owen and Jenny.

In the previous episode of the longest-running soap, Stephen was left frustrated when Elaine refused to support him in purchasing the Underworld. She encouraged the man to focus on their retirement and plan for their future together. Unpleased with the idea, the popular villain thought of another way to get rid of Elaine, especially since Carla planned to sell the company to Owen.

Later in the week, Elaine started to feel weak after taking her medications. Little did she know her fiancé switched her blood pressure tablets with caffeine pills. Though he knew the truth behind his fiancée’s situation, Stephen faked a concerned gesture and offered to get something to eat.

When the man left the room, Elaine got dizzy and hit her head when she lost consciousness. When Stephen found the woman on the floor, he immediately walked out of the scene. He hoped that Elaine will soon meet her end, so he can cash in the life insurance policy.

Earlier this year, the cobbles’ villain got jealous over Jenny Connor and Owen growing closer. Frustrated with the idea, he started to tell Jenny some horrible stories about the businessman and vice versa. During the recent scenes of “Coronation Street,” Stephen got tight-lipped when Owen asked him why he kept on feeding their minds with complete lies.

The man thought of a good excuse to tell Owen, but nothing came out of his mouth. Disgruntled with his behavior, the businessman told Stephen that he can never step foot in the Underworld ever again once the company is in his hands.

“When Owen refuses, Stephen is grasping at straws and he knows the only way is to persuade Carla not to sell, but she tells him she has to think about her mental health,” he told Digital Spy. Boyce found it ironic as it was Stephen who was behind Carla’s previous breakdown, and now, he is facing the consequences. “It is a terrific twist. Talk about your own goal,” he added.
