Amber Heard Met Elon Musk in 2016 After Johnny Depp Stood Her Up

As the defamation trial reopened again on Monday, Amber Heard told the jury how Johnny Depp effectively stood her up “on the red carpet”, leading her to grow closer to Elon Musk, who she described as “nice” and “a real gentleman”.

Taking the stand in Fairfax, Virginia, Amber Heard described how Depp and his team left her stranded at the 2016 Met Gala.  She also explained that she got acquainted with billionaire Elon Musk, 50, that same night.

“Johnny missed a fitting, because it was happening around the date of my birthday party in Los Angeles, but we were planning on going together as Ralph Lauren’s guests,” said Heard.

She claimed that she wasn’t made aware that Depp wasn’t going to show up to the Met Gala because his team ghosted her.

“So I ended up going by myself,” the Aquaman actress told the jury from the stand. “I sat next to an empty place setting for Johnny that they cleared as soon as we realized he effectively stood me up on the red carpet.”

Continuing on, she said that when she met Elon at the carpet, she wasn’t able to recognize “him until we started talking and he reminded me we had met once before,” adding that the SpaceX CEO “was with his mother,” Maye Musk, at the event.

“He seemed like a real gentleman,” Heard continued of Musk. “He was really nice. He sat at a nearby table and we got to speaking that night and eventually became friends.”

Amber Heard – No Romantic Involvement

A rep for Musk previously shared that the CEO and Heard, who had broken up by August 2017, “didn’t start seeing each other until May 2016, and even then it was infrequent. Their relationship didn’t become romantic until some time later.” Heard also reminisced about her relationship with the tech multi-billionaire over a year after their breakup, telling The Hollywood Reporter in 2018 that she and Elon “had a beautiful relationship”.

At the time she added: “we have a beautiful friendship now, one that was based on our core values. Intellectual curiosity, ideas and conversation, a shared love for science. We just bonded on a lot of things that speak to who I am on the inside. I have so much respect for him.”
