Angelina Jolie Talks Zahara’s Surgery, Kids’ Rashes & More

Angelina Jolie news reveals that the A-lister has an article in Time Magazine talking all about her family and what it’s like to be a single mom of six children.
At the same time she interviewed medical student Malone Mukwende about his goal of bringing medical knowledge to people of color, “as most medical books neglect to teach about ailments on black and brown skin.”

In the article, Angelina sympathized with the problem saying that she had a hard time finding medical advice for her children, “of different backgrounds,” when they all came got the same rash. Plus she spilled that her daughter Zahara, 16, just had surgery.
“I have children from different backgrounds, and I know when there was a rash that everybody got, it looked drastically different depending on their skin color,” she said.
“But whenever I looked at medical charts, the reference point was always white skin.”

It was noted that Mukwende’s handbook, Mind the Gap, confronts this type of problem by publishing pictures and information about medical conditions on, “different, non-white skin tones.”
Angelina added, “Recently my daughter Zahara, whom I adopted from Ethiopia, had surgery, and afterward a nurse told me to call them if her skin “turned pink.”
“That’s the kind of thing I started to notice very early on. Almost the entirety of medicine is taught in that way,” Mukwende responded.

He added, “Like you’ve just illustrated, that’s a very problematic statement for some groups of the population because it’s just not going to happen in that way and if you’re unaware you probably won’t call the doctor.”

The actress has three biological children with her ex-husband Brad Pitt, Shiloh, 15 and 12-year-old twins Knox and Vivian, as well as three adopted children, 19-year-old Maddox from Cambodia, 17-year-old Pax from Vietnam and 16-year-old Zahara from Ethopia. The couple just concluded a years long, contentious custody battle over the five minor children.
Brad was given joint custody, something that Angelina had reportedly fought against. It has been reported that she wants to raise the kids overseas which Brad was against due to his restricted access to them as he lives in the US.
Angelina recently returned home to her family after completing charity work with the United Nations. Soon after she was photographed in Los Angeles taking her kids to eat at Baltaire in Brentwood.
