Grey Anatomy: Jesse Williams Grey’s Anatomy spoilers and updates reveal Jesse Williams revealed that he got too emotional watching his last act on the long-running Grey’s Anatomy series during his appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres show. The emotions came as a shock to him when he watched his final moments at the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, but it isn’t compared to how “terrified” he feels to make his debut on Broadway.

Jesse Williams Calls His Time On “Grey’s Anatomy” “Beautiful”

“It was a little more emotional than I expected, to be honest,” Jesse shared about the episode that aired in late May. “It’s been a long, beautiful, just spectacular journey.”

The 40-year-old actor played Dr. Jackson Avery on the “Grey’s Anatomy” for a number of years. As the season 17 of the show was drawing to an end, it was leaked that Williams will be exiting the show. His last episode saw him leaving Seattle for a life in Boston.

It was a bittersweet moment, because even though Dr. Avery was leaving the show, fans finally had their “Japril” dreams fulfilled. Actress Sarah Drew returned to the show to play April one last time after being absent from the show for some time.

Williams revealed that the popular medical drama series was his biggest acting role to date, but not only that, he made his directorial debut on the show as well.

He added that things got really emotional when he watched a montage of himself playing the well-known character through the years.

“Seeing this young kid start and what that character’s journey was, you know, it did contextualize it for me a little bit,” he said. “It’s pretty nice.”

Following the news of his departure (which devastated some of the show’s fans), he shared his thoughts to E! News back in May.

“As an actor, director and person, I have been obscenely lucky to learn so much from so many,” he said. “And I thank our beautiful fans, who breathe so much energy and appreciation into our shared worlds.”

He further said, “The experience and endurance born of creating nearly 300 hours of leading global television is a gift I’ll carry always. I am immensely proud of our work, our impact and to be moving forward with so many tools, opportunities, allies and dear friends.”

Jesse Williams’ Future Projects

As for the actor, though he misses being on Grey’s Anatomy, he’s also moving forward with his career and “challenging” himself. He will soon be making his debut on Broadway as one of the leads.

“The character does call for a little bit of nudity, so what I will say about that is it’s terrifying in all the right ways,” he told Stephen “tWitch” Boss on the Ellen DeGeneres Show. The crowd greeted the announcement with a cheer.

“I’m looking to be challenged in new ways. To be scared and excited, to be pushed. One of the beautiful things about the job that I’ve had for so long is the comfort it creates. So, I’m excited to do something new.”
