Brad Pitt And Angelina Jolie’s Winery Court Battle Gets Fierce

The “Mr.& Mrs. Smith” stars Brad Pitt and his ex-wife Angelina Jolie are still at loggerheads over their winery Château Miraval.

Pitt first sued Jolie for selling half of her share of Miraval without consulting him in February 2022. The sale which took place in 2021 was announced by Tenute del Mondo, a subsidiary of spirits company Stoli Group which bought Jolie’s share.

In October 2021, Stoli Group announced their “purchase of 50 percent of Chateau Miraval, and the Miraval brand, from Angelina Jolie.” The company also added, “We are thrilled to have a position alongside Brad Pitt as curators of their extraordinary vintages.”

Pitt is suing Jolie for deliberately plotting the sale of Miraval with a Russian oligarch Yuri Shefler even though she promised to sell her interest to Pitt.

On Thursday, June 1, the “Bullet Train” actor stated in the amended complaint filed in Los Angeles, “Jolie went forward with the vindictive putative sale in breach of her and Nouvel’s contractual obligations.”

He went on to add that Jolie, “preferring to sell her stake in Miraval to a designated Russian oligarch and block Pitt from continuing to pursue his successful vision and strategy in building the property and business that was intended to be their children’s legacy.”

The actor is also claiming that the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine poses an “existential threat to the business” due to Shefler’s ties to Russia.]

According to legal documents obtained, “Shefler’s Russia-affiliated spirits conglomerate has been the subject of repeated boycotts in connection with Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine and homophobic legislative Agenda,”

“While Shefler may be seeking to launder his reputation by forcing a partnership with one of the world’s most well-known and popular actors, affiliation with Shefler and Stoli jeopardizes the reputation of the business that Pitt so carefully built with Perrin and with which Pitt has so closely and carefully associated himself and his image.”

Back in May 2021, prior to Jolie selling her interest, a retired judge granted Pitt joint custody of their children, Maddox, now 21, Pax, 19, Zahara, 18, Shiloh, 17, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 14, however, Pitt is claiming that Jolie wasn’t happy with the verdict so she sold her part of the winery to get at him.

The amended complaint states, “In the wake of the adverse custody ruling, she no longer wanted to sell to Pitt, notwithstanding her contractual obligations and years of assurances to him.”
