These famous exes are rehashing their age-old messy breakup and the world is still getting a front row seat to it. Following Spears’ bestselling memoir, “The Woman In Me,” her 3-year relationship with “America’s golden boy” Justin Timberlake has sort of been reincarnated. And while it’s not exactly bad blood between the two, it’s not all peace and love either.
Britney Spears Remembers Making Justin Timberlake Cry Over Basketball: “Cry Me A River”
Britney Spears recently shared a post that seemingly pointed at ex Justin Timberlake, and it comes just two days after he took the stage to perform his 2002 hit “Cry Me A River” in front of a packed crowd. But before he did that, he first said, “No disrespect.”
Well, Spears has reacted in kind. Sharing a clip of a leopard standing between two pole-dancing men and a man standing upside down against a wall, she flashed back to a time when she was still dating the former *NSYNC member.
In the caption, she wrote, “Oh Jesus Christ, the stories … I could tell on the set of this one☝ !!! There’s always more to the story and that’s not even half of it !!! It was shot in Arizona 120 degree heat … 2 different version videos were shot for this song … most boys say “OH I’M SHOOK”!!! Psss I never mentioned how I beat him in basketball and he would cry … no disrespect ♀️♀️♀️ !!!”
Spears probably meant the time she and Timberlake wore matching jerseys during *NSYNC’s third annual Challenge for the Children charity event in July 2001. Their nicknames for each other – Pinky and Stinky – were cutely featured on the back of their uniforms.
Spears and Timberlake dated from 1999 to 2002, and this year, their brief romance was brought back to the headlines with Spears’ shocking revelations in memoir “The Woman In Me.”
“It is finally time for me to raise my voice and speak out, and my fans deserve to hear it directly from me. No more conspiracy, no more lies — just me owning my past, present and future,” she told PEOPLE prior to its release in October.
In the memoir, Spears confirmed that she had indeed gotten pregnant for Timberlake, but since he wasn’t ready to become a father, he urged her to make the hard decision and abort it.
Spears also took offense to Timberlake’s “Cry Me a River” and the video that made her out to be a “harlot.”
While Timberlake is yet to name his inspiration for the song, he did reveal he wrote the song when he was “scorned” in his 2018 memoir; “Hindsight: & All the Things I Can’t See in Front of Me.”
“I’ve been scorned. I’ve been pissed off. I wrote ‘Cry Me a River’ in two hours. I didn’t plan on writing it,” he wrote.
