Britney Spears Says She’s HURT After Reaching Conservatorship Settlement

Britney Spears Says She's HURT After Reaching Conservatorship SettlementOn Thursday, April 25, 2024, the “Baby One More Time” singer Britney Spears and her father Jamie Spears finally settled their conservatorship dispute in which Jamie demanded Britney pay over $2 million of his legal fees incurred during her 2021 court victory.

In case you’re new to this, Jamie used to be his daughter Britney’s conservator (he was in control of her life, career, finances, and everything) from 2008 to 2019 when he stepped down due to his health issues at the time.

He was replaced by Jodi Montgomery, a professional in the field but by 2021, Britney was set free of the conservatorship by Judge Brenda Penny who said, “Based on what I read in the filings, and I read everything. I do believe the suspension of Jamie Spears is in the best interest of Britney Spears. The current situation is unattainable. The court finds the toxic environment Jamie Spears has created needs to be removed today.”

After Britney’s freedom, Jamie proceeded to demand that his daughter pay his legal fees. It’s been more than two years since Britney’s court victory but last week, Britney and Jamie reached an undisclosed settlement in Los Angeles Superior Court.

However, the pop singer is not happy with the agreement because she wanted to get some form of justice for the inhumane treatments she endured from her family over the course of her 13-year conservatorship.

Taking to her Instagram, the “Oops! I did It Again” singer wrote, “My family hurt me! There has been no justice and probably never will be!” Meanwhile, a source claimed to “The U.S. Sun” that, “Her legal team decided the focus should be on protecting her from reliving the traumas of her conservatorship.”

Britney Spears — On Britney And Jamie’s Settlement

In a statement to PEOPLE, Britney’s attorney Matthew said, “Although the conservatorship was terminated in November 2021, her wish for freedom is now truly complete. As she desired, her freedom now includes that she will no longer need to attend or be involved with court or entangled with legal proceedings in this matter.”

He added, “Britney Spears won when the court suspended her father, and Britney Spears won when her fundamental rights and civil liberties were restored.” Jamie’s attorney Alex Weingarten also confirmed that the father and daughter duo, “reached a settlement agreement resolving all outstanding disputes.”

He continued, “I cannot comment on any specifics as the settlement is confidential. Jamie is thrilled that this is all behind him. He loves his daughter very much and everything he has ever done has been to protect and support her. It is unfortunate that some irresponsible people in Britney’s life chose to drag this on for as long as it has.”
